Thumbs up Think Food is too Expensive? Think Again!

Angel Food Ministries rock! I love this organization!

(Loosely) From their website:

"Our food is “restaurant grade” meats, frozen vegetables, fruits, dairy products, etc. which we acquire through our involvement with only the best producers/vendors of high quality, “name brand” foods. Never “seconds” or “day old” type products are involved.

Each month's menu is different. The cost for a box of Angel Food is $30. There is no purchase limit for boxes of Angel Food. There are no applications, income restrictions, or qualifications necessary.

We have host or distribution sites (many are churches) all over the United States."

Basically the procedure is:

1. Go to their website Welcome*- Angel Food Ministries and find a host (distribution) site near you.
2. Go there and choose what you want from the monthly menu (the menu is also on the website)
3. Pay $30.00 for a basic box of food.

You can also buy additional boxes of meats for $20.00 per box. If there, say one month, are too many 'carb foods' in the basic food box, you can get a friend to purchase it, then add a meat special box to her order. This way, you are only paying for the foods you can eat.

They accept cash, check, EBT (Food Stamps), money orders. There is no application to fill out. No ID required other than ID required for your payment method. For example, you may have to show your driver's license to pay with a check, etc.)

The orders are placed at the beginning of the month and distributed at the end of the month.

Oh and by the way, the food is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!

I hope this helps...

Looks like a great deal if you have one near you.

Thanks so much for this. I saw it on our local news, but I didn't get the information so that I could participate. I used the link you provided and found that we have 5 sites that participate near where I live. The food on the news item looked very good. There were a lot of veggies and that is something I've been trying hard to add to my diet (instead of the same old can of green beans that my DH favors).

Thanks!
