| Hello there, You're also allowed 2 Tbls. of Flaxmeal or Flaxseed. I make a hot flaxmeal cereal with 2 Tbls. flaxmeal, 1 tbls cream, dab butter, 1/4 water, sweetner if you choose, and microwave for 1 min. 20 sec. It helps get things moving . I also like to take Docusate. You can buy it over the counter at your drug store. It's a stool softener. If you wait to long you may have to use a suppository to get things moving along. Five days without a BM a suppository will be your best bet at this point. Oh, and there's a tea that you can buy. I think it called smooth move. I'll try to find the name of it here somewhere here.. Hope this helps. Are you getting all your water in? Very important to be drinking all your water. Are you exercising? That helps get things moving aswell. You should be eating 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup off of your other veggie list each day. How much cheese are you eating? You're allowed 3-4 ounces a day on Induction. | Smooth move works really well although i sometimes have to drink some coffee in addition to it. The chocolate flavor is wonderful with a bit of cream and some sweetener. In fact i often have to remind myself it is not regular tea and i can't just drink it just because. |

| how much water do you drink daily? Dr Atkins recommends 64 ounces of pure water daily -- I drink more than that and don't have a problem with constipation.

| Honey, there should be no change in bowl habits.. If you went every day before then you need to go every day while on Atkins. You will want the transition to Atkins to be smooth. Go ahead and use a fiber laxative like Fibercon or something. Use it every day for a couple days. I sprinkle wheat bran on everything. You should get in the habit of using that or oat bran or Psylum husks (I can never find those). The old Atkins book had us mixing the three of them and sprinkling them on our food. If you do not crap you will die. Keep that in mind. Enema with water works too. Keep your water intake up high... add another bottle of water... don't let this go on. |
