| I either saw a show or read something about something similar to that but about diabetes. They said that women who carry most of their weight on their hips and butt were at a lower risk of getting diabetes. There is a difference i guess in the fat on your belly and on your legs. They found when they did tests on mice and injected leg fat (from a mouse that carried more weight on its legs? lol sounds silly) It stopped the belly fat mouse from getting diabetes. I think i have never been happier to be a fat legged girl.

| interesting article gooniegirl. i got so darn aggravated when i met my original goal of 5'7" and 150 pounds...and the BMI index said i was overweight. i worked out daily and was wearing a size 6/8!!!! just recently i hit 143 pounds...i rechecked my BMI and i am FINALLY in the average weight category.....duh! i have always maintained that those records do NOT take into account muscle weight. now i am just wondering about this.......what about those of us who are built like "boys"....like me......who are almost straight up and down...with no definitive waistlines and no "junk in our trunks"? the inches are not there.....so the ratio between waist and hip is not that definitive. i need to get out the tape measure and see what's going on! |

| More evidence that the tape measure rather than the scale is our friend! I am 160 at 5'2" and muscular. It's nice to find something that offers some encouragement as I'm pretty sure I'll never be okay on that BMI scale yet.. with this ratio I'm in the healthy zone. |
