Default flax seed meal

I have high cholesterol- high bad cholesterol and high trigylcerides. I am still on extened induction and read that flax seed meal is allowed. So, I tried the flax seed meal with water and some sugar substitute- it is so gross!!!!!!!!! Any other ideas? :help

apparently a lot of Atkineers make flax bread. Do a search on it with the link at the top of the page, type is "flax bread" or similar and a lot of recipes should pop up.

Flax is so versatil. There are a lot of recipes on the recipe board. Have you tried 2bigs flax muffins?? They are awesome and I haven't had any craving problems. Also, here is another ecipe for cinnamon muffins that are to die for..

If you are trying to naturally lower your numbers, try drinking green tea! My Dr. swears by it. There is a thread in this forum at the top, about the benefits of green tea...

Good luck..

Hugs, Tammy

I discovered flax meal and almond flour a month ago. I've been totally sugar free and white flour free since 2/22/06. I eat a single serving of microwaved flax bread daily and I love it! It's so versatile!

Flax is pure nastiness, but there are ways to get around that. Under snacks I just posted a muffin recipe--since you're only supposed to be eating 2-3 tablespoons a day on induction (AND extended induction) you could have a half of each muffin (I just ate one, mmmmm good. And again, I hate flax). If you weren't crazy about flax crackers I would add a little more sweetener and also try some cinnamon. Also try adding flax to your everday foods as thickeners, it's an easy way to get it in there and mask the taste.
