Re: "THREAD OF THE WEEK" cholesterol.... | | | I have been taking Toprol-XL 50mg for the past 18 months, my blood pressure on medication is quite stable, usually around 120-130/80-85. Since I started Atkins (one week ago) and it is lower than usual. I check it almost every night... consistently around 100/65. Not sure if I should be worried, but planning to talk to my doctor anyway. I am still on the medication, as you may know you are not supposed to stop the medication without the doctor consultation and even if you intend to stop, you have to take it gradually otherwise you are in a risk of a heart attack. I am 37, 6’ 2” and 276lbs now. By the way, for those not familiar with Toprol-XL, it is a beta-blocker drug with "metoprolol" as the active ingradient. It is used primarily for treating hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). | |
