| first deep breath What did your doctor say about those numbers and did you have a preAtkins set of numbers to compare them too. congrats on that great total cholesterol!! your ratio is total /HDL and any thing under 5 is considered healthy you got 3.17 WOOO HOOO for you. Folk would kill for LDL as low as yours wooo hooo Creactive protein is an indicator of inflamation in the body If you don't have any muscle injuries or joint issues like arthritics or any illness then C reactive protein is also a good indicator espically in femles of heart issues since their is a corralation between it and heart attacks it goes up proir to attacks. Heavy weight training can cause it to go up too. So are you free of everything else in the body that can elevate it? triglycerides are just the fats before they have been fractured and you are using them as your fuel on Atkins, what were your levels before Atkins. Some folk are genetically prone to high numbers even on low carb low fat plans like South Beach. there are some health conditions related to high triglycerides including high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, chronic kidney and liver circulatory disease, and hypothyroidism. Was your doc concerned any of them were the cause? there are many mediacl studies that show supplements you can take to help lower triglycerides like fish oils and Pantethine. What did your doctor recommend?

| if those were your pre Atkins then you are about ti see a dramtic drop in your triglycerides. when you don't do Atkins those are stored not burned now doing Atkins you will be busting those things up for fuel. Exercising and eating Atkins will also increase your HDL so you will have an even better ratio on your next test, What did your doc say about the CRP testing. you got any inflamatory illness like arthritis going on? even just a sore muscle can cause those to go up.

| you need to be injury inflamation free for at least 14 days before the C reative protien test to get accurate results. I'm not sure how they deal with folk with chronic inflamation like arthritis. maybe they have a baseline level and look of increases.

| Congrats on the great numbers! Yes, your trigs will definitely come down in the absence of sugars/starches!!! Prepare to be impressed next go 'round! BTW, my DH just had his bloodwork done last week after 4 years of following Atkins and his HDL was 40 and his LDL was 120. He's 54 years old! Betty
