| blood pressure meds can cause slower weight loss but if you need them currently to be healthy then just keep plugging along. what are you doing for the mandatory exercise part of your Atkins? and remember as you get smaller unless you increase your activities you will need smaller portions as your body needs less fuel to do the exact same thing. it runs about 9 cals a pound ofr females which is why listening to your hunger and not counting cals is so important when doing Atkins.

| Thanks 2big. I didn't know about the 9 cals a pound. I see others losing a lot more than me, so I have to be patient. For mandatory exercise, I'm doing 20 minutes on the treadmill, so will up that and add some walking. I have noticed the past three days, we have naturally cut portions, cut meat in half, have to tell myself to eat a little for lunch. We have gone from 2 eggs to one and have cut bacon from 4 thin slices to 3, and want to try 2 or 1 tomorrow if that will leave me with enough fat. I also read that I should be splitting my veggies in to 2 portions instead of 3 cups at dinner. time to dig out my fitday again. Thanks! |

| good for you but actually it is 3 portions one at every meal so all day long you are running on proper atkins fuel.

| Good on you Babs! Nice to read your docs comment about Atkins allowing you to most likely lower your meds soon! Yes, it's a bummer that loss is often slower second time around, but the weight does still come off, which is the main thing. And yes... three cups of veggies at three meals is the way it's supposed to be...spreading carbs, so as to keep blood sugar on an even keel. Let us know how you get on!

| Atenolol is one of the med's that the good Doctor talks about and doesn't like. I know because it's one that I am taking also. I have always thought that it was one of the reasons for my slow weight loss, BUT it is also one of the Meds that YOU CANNOT JUST STOP taking cause that can be dangerous. There are other meds that your doctor can switch to but make sure she does the switching and tells you how. |

| Thanks for the posts everyone. I've since had my BP go up to 147/109 I am sure from stress. It's been great most of the time, but those numbers have alarmed me. That's the highest I've ever seen it. I'm walking 30 minutes and want to to get up to to one hour a day in hope that will help, and Scale is still at a stand still, I'm now taking double the amount of BP meds, like the bottle says, 1 or 2, so I'm taking two, and that seems to be helping fine and keeping it down, so far. Desert, I told my husband about his med and not to stop taking it, so thanks. Now to get a doctor that gives a rat's patutie about that. I feel we have one who cares now, but so far, with other doctors and meds, we have not had many doctors who care about it. Even for one of my my back surgeries, the drug paper said to tell them if I was on a beta blocker, so I did. They didn't care and said it did not matter, so then when I was bottoming out, they were wondering why. I do not know enough to know if that's what caused it, but even with no knowledge, I would imagine that did it. I think we have a doctor who seems to care about not stopping a med abruptly now, or I would hope so. If not, then it's up to me and my husband to know everything, I suppose. But anyway, thanks again for all the information. |
