| Hello, I am 20 years old. I never had any blood pressure problem. But recently got my blood pressure taken at my sister's house with an at home blood pressure monitor. It shows that my blood pressure is 136/94. I am quite worried for this. Will it go down soon? Do I need to go to the doctor to get it checked out immediately? Please suggest me. Thank you.

| Dreaming... sorry for the late reply; not sure how I managed to miss your thread I'm no expert, so can't offer you much help except to follow your doctors' advice and, if you're not happy with your doc's attitude, then change to someone you feel happier with. I do know that losing weight helps with high blood pressure, consequently is a good way to get off, or reduce meds. Rumki... BP levels can go up and down quite a lot depending on stress and other factors, so you should test at different times so as to get a clearer picture... particularly as you've never had a bp prob. If you are concerned then I'd certainly go have it checked by your doctor. I'm sure he/she will reassure you. As I said to Dreamin, weight loss helps high BP levels, so Atkins is a good thing to do. Hope someone with more knowledge than I have will be able to reply here.
