Hello Karen

I hope you can understand English as I cant speak South African.

I am not from South Africa but just wanted to welcome you to our ADBB international family

I think you are asking about buying Atkins brand products over there?

We have a South African food and diabetic/atkins-type shop near us in England which is run by a South African couple who I am sure keep in touch with people out there.

They might be able to give you some contacts for getting hold of lowcarb products to try. Their email address is info@allergyfreeheaven.com.

But remember that you dont actually need those processed products to eat Atkins! Fresh meat, vegetables, gream, eggs, cheeses and so on are available eveerywhere and are much healthier than any processed foods.

Hi, yes I do understand English. I was just silly to write the message in Afrikaans. South Africa actually has 11 official languages. Crazy isn’t it!!

I am impressed with you understanding what I was asking about.

Yes, I was asking about Atkins products in South Africa. I absolutely love meat and veggies and would eat it morning, noon and night. Working at an abattoir means that I have very fresh meat available every day.

I just sometimes feel like eating something different without cheating and the products advertised on the new Atkins.com looks really nice. We do have health shops that sell diabetic and low-carb products, but it tastes horrible.

Thank you for the email address, I will contact them.

No problem posting in your own language, Karin, after all it is an 'International' forum

I understand what you mean by wanting something different now and again, but if you do find the Atkins products just be careful that you do read the list of ingredients as well as the carb counts.

Some of the labels on bars and mixes are not very honest about what phase of Atkins they are 'legal' for, for example some called OK for induction have nuts or fruit in them which makes them fine for those rungs of OWL but not for induction.

I know what you mean!! I never buy products before checking the carb count. Last night I wanted to buy some sugar free mints for this dragon-breath. Carb Count: 98g per 100g product.
