Eggs (obviously)
Top top top quality sausages. the type that cost £1.99 for 6. Look at the packaging a lot of our sausages are packed so full of fillers its unreal

Go shopping at your local supermarket about 20 minutes before closing and stock your freezer up with meat thats on special as its the last day before needing throwing out. Thats the biggest tip I ever picked up. The meat is ok.

Hi,

I'm quite picky but I've got my Atkins routine down to a T now. I get organic free range chicken and bacon and eggs and fresh fish from the fish counter (organic if I can afford it) from Waitrose. I think it's worth spending a bit more on such items because other animal products can be full of weird additives and also from an animal welfare point of view. I get my veg from a cheaper supermarket (Somerfield), though I'd like to get organic if I could. Like Richt I go either at the end of the day or the beginning when salad stuff, veg and fish is sometimes marked down - if you have it that day it is fine (I don't have a freezer).

I always get:
eggs, bacon, chicken, fresh fish, lettuce, courgettes, peppers, cheese (unusual ones that I marked down I try sometimes), mushrooms, kale, broccoli, tinned tuna, mayo. Salad bags with watercress, rocket, etc are good as you can have them with some lettuce - it adds variety and makes salad easier to prepare - and they are often half price in the mornings. Because it's pretty much always the same I've very quick now and I know what meals I can do with it. It took ages the first time though - as I was checking the meat, etc for sugar (beware some brands of mayo too).

When I'm on the nuts rung I think I'll go to Holland and Barrett as they have cheaper and bigger bags than supermarkets have, as they do oats and lentils too (when I get that for on OWL!)
Hope that helps, Baarb

Thanks.... All very useful.

I was looking for Flaxseeds (Linseeds) and found them in Holland and Barretts! They have them on at half price at the moment... £1.74.

Also someone was telling me that M&S own brand of fizzy drinks are made from sucralose... has anyone tried these?

I am not really into fizzy drinks... but we are planning a party and it would be nice to have a glass... that is if they are Atkins friendly!

Red face Re: UK:Atkins Friendly Foods...

I always by some salmon and pan fry it!

Brie and cheese strings are a good snack.
Also I tend to buy small packets of pepperoni and fresh gammon which is
0.2 gm carbs for 100gm.
I shop from sainsbury or asda and at times from waitrose.
Stewing beef is good for casseroles with a bit of tinned tomaties and veggies.

I discovered that our local Waitrose seems to be dropping their granulated Splenda!!

I am waiting for their office to contact me to find out if it is temporary, a chain-wide permanent decision or just a local one, but anyone else who buys it from Waitrose might want to stock up!

I did find roasted salted soy nuts in their 'free from' section which make a tasty and very filling snack for anyone on or past the legumes rung of OWL. One ounce= 5 net carbs.
