| ALEXA SENT THIS SAMPLE BRITISH MENU 1. Breakfast: On induction I ate a lot of eggs - I couldn't seem to solve this until I moved to OWL but there are some recipes for quiches etc on Linda's site. So I had say 2 poached eggs with half an avocado, 1/3rd cup cherry toms, 1-2 oz cheese. This also works well with scrambled eggs (I add a pat of butter and 1 tbsp cream to 3 scrambled eggs). Lunch: A 4.5oz (i.e. standard) can tuna (in oil I hate brine), 1 tablespoon mayo smished in (with black pepper, vinegar and chilli powder if you like) - Mayo is called 'Simply Delicious' and I get it in Waitrose, though my Mum gets it in Co-op. I didn't used to have sugar in but now it does, grrr. Is lovely though and doesn't seem to affect me. I think some people use Hellmans mayo which has sugar, but again, with few probs. Go for full fat obv.! 1 cup salad leaves - (normally 1/2cup lettuce, 1/2 cup rocket or watercress to make it more interesting and nutritious) Sorry can't spell today! In the salad also a 1/3 cup of celery and/or cherry tomatos or peppers. Snack: An oz cheese (good visual is think of four dice) Black coffee (decaf) with cream is nice in the evening when munchies arise. Dinner: Chicken breast cut up, fried in butter (only a little bit, like a pat) - I put 'spicy rub' on it to give it some flavour but chicken takes flavour in lots of nice ways - you could use your lemon juice ration. Then a cup of heavy veg - like courgette (yum and lots of veg per carb), broccoli (ditto). String beans, kale also fab in this way. Day 2: Breakfast: 1 rashers bacon (check for sugars), 2 medium eggs fried in sunflower oil. 1/3rd cup mushrooms sauteed in butter. 1 or 2 oz cheddar (I use it like bread, if you know what I mean!) Lunch: I have to admit I ate salad everyday for induction and still do quite a lot now. I need to investigate soups. Again a cup of leaves (lettuce, rocket, watercress, raw spinach, lambs lettuce), and 2X 1/3rd cup of tomatos, celery or peppers. Chicken cooked the night before goes well with this (and mayo) bacon and cheese is a nice salad topping, or tuna and cheese melt or cheese and avocado. Dinner: 2X beef burgers with cheese and mayo (I'm keeping the mayo industry going, obv.) with a cup of heavy veg again or salad. Reading this makes me realise I didn't have a great deal of variety at first but I worked up to a bit more. Another good dinner is poached in the oven in foil salmon or fish with butter and lemon juice marinade - served on a cup of spinach (very low carb) or kale (a bit higher). |

| I LOVE this thread!!!! ok, canadian bacon=ham. Just a salty round little ham. fits nicely on a breakfast sandwich. Believe me, you arent missing anything there! Cheetos-snack food. crunchy corn cheesy poof covered in a fake neon orange cheese powder. Hey! Powdered cheese!!! Twinkie- indestructible sponge cake filled with a nasty fake whipped topping stuff. It will takes years off your life, but the preservatives will keep you looking good. Here's the best thing about Atkins, I'm not eating any premade junk anymore!!!

| see I know a little sompen sompen! What else? You guys have the cutest sayings... a boot is a trunk of a car... a bumpershoot is an umbrella... about cooking... when using american teaspoons/ tablespoons you must level the spoon with the back of a knife so it's level and not heaping when measuring dry ingredients like baking powder for instance. That's how my mom taught me to cook anyhow! liz |
