I found this definition
Quote:
soda water: effervescent beverage artificially charged with carbon dioxide
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn
So it looks to me as if club soda = sparkling water (unsweetened would count as part of your water intake)

Yep yep, club soda is fizzy water. Thing is, I've read that these don't count towards the amount of water we need to drink per day. Since ya never know yer Donald, I thought I'd throw it out here and ask if anyone knows if that be true or false.

I have picked up on a few US/UK differences when checking out Atkins recipes online. It's not too hard figure out what the UK translation is by Googling! Here are two of the best ones:

Egg plant = Aubergine
Zucchini = Courgette

It's annoying using FitDay for just this reason. I end up adding things as custom foods as a result!

They used to sell these in the UK when I was a lad. The brand was crushed by similarly orange and toxic Cheesy Wotsits!

Hiya helena

I'm in the Uk and all my menus are pretty much the basics

eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms, cheese and mayo for brekkie
or
kippers in a bag with butter sauce
or
cheese and tomato omellette and cream cheese (philidalphia)

lunch

tuna, chicken salad (basically two cups of lettuce, tom, mush, olives, peppers, cucumber) and mayo with garlic sprinkles instead of salt
or
tinned mackeral and 1 cup of brussel sprouts with butter/garlic and pepper
or
chicken hot wings (chicken wings with paprika, cayenne pepper, mint, corriander and garlic and olive oil)

dinner

hmmm lots here but typically
a meat (steak, roast chicken, fish)
with mashed up cauliflour (lovely solution to potato), butter, garlic and pepper
or I can make a beef or pork stew with my allocated vegetables and bouilion or clear broth
or I can make a chicken dish in cream, onions, cheese and oregano

I like to stock up on about 20 different types of spices to make things taste different so as not to get board

Snacks

I love putting peices of cheeses in the microwave and crisping them (like chips) - or slices of pepperoni or garlic sausage (you can get in sainsburys) and crisp them too

I drink at least 10pints of water

but I do allow myself about 2 decaf coffees with cream

and as a sweet treat, I have about 5 chopped up fresh strawberries and double thick cream.

hope this helps.

I also love making fake hashbrowns which you can see under my recepies in my blog if you like.

xx

I have my All American Chinese made Television on the BBC all the time so I've picked up quite a bit of the lingo differences. Top Gear is about my favorite show on the whole 200+ channels I get. Of course Dr Who, been watching that since the Tom Baker days, The F Word, Graham Norton, re-runs of Ab Fab, I love Kitchen Nightmares, Primeval is pretty decent, yeah, too much Brit TV for me.....

Every once in a while someone will be on Top Gear being interviewed and I can't understand a word they are saying. It always seems to be some aging rock star with no brain cells left and it all sounds like one big word. Like Ozzy Ozbourne, I can't remember the name of the last guy I saw on there, but it was a train wreck of an interview.

Of course, I can't understand half of the aging American rockstars either....
