| those pre-made items are what make American's fat in the first place! We are one step away from powdered water in this country. If you can package it, then you can sell it to someone here. Anytime you have a question about a menu or item, or whatever, let me know, maybe I can help!

| "We are one step away from powdered water in this country." That made me howl out loud with laughter. Seriously though, I really don't know what to make of Hopejoy's reply. I can only imagine that she is unaware that many terms used for food items in "USA English" are not in use over here, or have different names. When reading other people's menus to get some quick ideas (I have to do everything quickly as I am so busy) it's hopeless, because they are full of these items. Hence I started this thread hoping someone could point me in the direction of some British daily sample menus. I have asked a few individuals but so far no one has come up with any. I will try to find some examples of what I do not understand or cannot buy, Hopejoy. Helena |

| I agree there are many differences Helena, but like hopejoy if we are not aware of the differences then you will need to point them out to us so we can help you.

| Helena, I think what Hopejoy and Lauren are saying is that without you giving examples they are not sure what foods you are referring to. Which American names food stuff names are confusing to you?

| Loads of things, it would take me the whole evening to scour this whole board looking for examples and then everyone would just reply with explanations, but it wouldn't change much, because a lot of the things are items that are branded things sold in shops we don't have (cheetos and twinkies and canada bacon and something or other hens and "ranch" and some kind of sugarfree syrup and many other things). All I wanted was to see some Brit menus. Now I dearly wish I had never started this thread - can I delete it somehow? and I am sorry to have wasted everyone's time. Bye.
