Ariadne is on a distinguished road
Default Braums' CarbWatch ice cream

As anyone within a day's drive of Oklahoma probably knows, Braums is now selling CarbWatch ice cream in half gallons and $3.00 hand-packed pints (no shakes or cones, for obvious reasons). There's a good variety of flavors: beside the standard vanilla and chocolate, Braums sells chocolate chip, butter pecan, chocolate almond and chocolate pecan. It has two or three grams of net carbs per serving, and is wonderful in every way... almost.

The texture is fairly heavy, almost the same as normal ice cream. A bit creamier. Actually, the only difference I could find between normal chocolate chip and the low-carb version is that the latter isn't quite as sweet. One issue, though: I'm pretty sure it's sweetened with sorbitol or malitol. I haven't read the ingredients, but I, um, figured it out on my own. Do not eat the whole thing at once. Luckily, this stuff really is good enough that most people would be content with only a few spoons. Braum's low-carb ice cream is the best on the market. As far as flavor and texture go, of course. Its nutrition and adherence to the Atkins plan is up for debate.

We bought some choc pecan and choc almond last night and I must admit its pretty good. 2g per 1/2 c for both of the choc flavors listed above, it was a bit "different" then the bryers but still very yummy.
We paid $4.49 for a 1/2 gallon /cry and yes, I live in Oklahoma =P

ps. they also sell a low carb bread $ 1.59 a loaf @5g per slice (hubby said it was pretty good, but I prepared it as garlic toast for him /shrug)
