Default Splenda added soda pop

I have recently tried two products new to me.

Hansens diet: Comes in three flavors that I could find. Ginger Ale, Tangerine-Lime and Black Cherry. I tried the black cherry. Ewwww can you say cough syrup? To me it was overly sweet, carbonated cough syrup. After a few sips the Splenda takes over and was just too sweet tasting.

Diet Rite Cola: At first sip I thought, OOoohh FINALLY I found something thats just right. But like with the Hansens, the Splenda soon overcomes the cola taste and I couldnt finish the can. The sweetness was making me GACK!!!!

Im still on the lookout for Diet Royal Crown Cola.

They both tasted a little too sweet to me, but by adding a little club soda they ended up being ok. I prefer the Hansens flavors, at least until they get the Diet Rite Peach & Tangerine sodas here.

Default Sweetness of sodas with Splenda...

I wonder if the sodas just taste sweeter than normal because of the diet..??? I had a caffeine free diet Coke last night (I have a 24 can carton and refuse to just throw it out) and it seemed too sweet to me... Never had that happen before... **S**

I tried the regular and splenda versions of Sierra Mist; the Splenda-based version was definately sweeter. I imagine this will change in the future as companies tweak their formulas.

I love Diet-Rite. Of course I also was drinking about 2-3 liters per day of pepsi before the diet, and I'm used to Deep South Sweet Tea (1 cup of sugar per liter), so nothing is too sweet for this sweet-tooth.

Now that I'm on OWL, I'm putting down some 3-4 cans per day with no apparent effect. As a side note, sugar alcohols seem to be stalling me though, so I'm about to experiment with dropping them for a week or so.

Default Anybody tried lemon juice to make Diet Rite less sweet?

Has anybody tried cutting Diet Rite with lemon juice? I know that lemon juice will reduce the sweetness of sugar in tea, I also find it wayyy too sweet. I thought TAB was less sweet, but it has caffiene.

Lisa

I often find the diet RC more than Diet Rite in stock, and they seem to be sister products (same company). But what worried me is the RC has caffeine where DR doesn't. I've had both in the past before seriously dieting and both are very good.
