| Fishy, very fishy! Literally, I found them to not taste like anything, just a filler. I was not impressed. But, I also don't care for most fish. Sorry, about my view, you may really like them. All you can do it try them and see. Let us know if you try them and what you think. Also, they go by different names, just google no carb noodles and you will see lots of sites for them. Hope it helps. SueSue1212

| They're also called shiritake noodles and you may find them in Asian markets in the refrigerator aisle. They do have a fishy smell to them. So you have to really rinse them under running water. Otherwise, I agree with Sue---they are just filler and more for texture than taste. The texture is chewy---sorta like Twizzler's candy. Some people think they make a good substitute for pasta and have eaten them with spaghetti sauce, but I think they do better in Asian-style preparations, like noodle soups and lo mein-type stuff---where the flavors of the other ingredients make up for the tastelessness of the shiritake noodles.

| The miracle noodle you find online is just the yam noodle...it IS fishy smelling, and has the texture of a rubber band (not that I eat too many of those House foods puts out Shiratake noodles...they're refrigerated in 8 ounce packages. They are the yam, plus tofu. I'm not much for tofu, but it REALLY helps the texture. Still has 9but not as bad) that fishy smell. I rinse mine then boil for a couple of minutes then rinse and use. Still chewy, but not nearly as much as the straight yam ones. Another thread about this, a poster said some of the chewiness disappeared of you stir fried it. Haven't tried it that way..... |

| Just my 2 cents. It is a "yam" noodle, but not yams as we know them in the US. They are made of a very high fiber root which is why they have essentially no carbs. My husband is thrilled whenever I make them because we gave up all other kinds of pasta ages ago. You MUST rinse them, and I prefer to boil them in a broth to reduce the fishy smell. I like to make them asian style, as Megs suggested. I usually do soy sauce, veggies and chicken or shrimp. I should mention, no reason to buy these online. You can buy them at asian stores and some regular grocery stores in the produce section by the refrigerated salad dressings or refrigerated asian products such as egg roll wrappers. | Hi, A friend of mine rinses them then puts them in the microwave to dry them out a bit. They say that after they do that, the noodles soak up whatever sauce you put on them and that their texture is better. I have not personally tried this method but plan to down the road. Val

| I am a HUGE pasta fan, so I was really excited to find these. I had to order them, but in my opinion, they are worth buying. I rinse, boil & then microwave them to rid them of any "fishy" odor and to prep them for cooking. My husband, who is also on Atkins, does not care for the noodles very much. To each their own!! |
