Default Planned cheat today, what are my consequesnces?

Today was my 3 years old's birthday. We baked a cake together. I had a slice, and made sure it was the size of the suggested serving on the box. I ate light today with low carbs elsewhere. My total carb intake was 56g, after fiber 51g. Normally i am between 20-25g. The other food i ate today was all atkin's friendly. This is my first planned cheat, and tomorrow will be business as usual. What do you think the effects from this will be? Water gain? Knocked out of ketosis? I've been in Ketosis since i started atkins 3 weeks ago. I made the choice to have a piece of cake, since she and i baked it together, and it just felt right to have a peice too. Although, admittedly, it didn't taste that great, i quit eating it before i was done.

Most likely you will get knocked out of ketosis for a couple days, and may see a slight water weight gain.

In the big picture, you have slowed yourself down 2 or 3 days. At your relatively low weight currently with so little weight left to lose, I wouldn't be too concerned.

Try not to make it a habit, as it will slow down you reaching your goals.

Ditto what Wyatt said I wanted to add, that I told my girls (6,3 and 18 months ) that Mommy could not eat sugar anymore because it makes her fat and grumpy LOL Now they will offer it and the other will say "mommy can't eat that it has sugar in it!" So no cake for my oldest b-day, no cookies when we bake them, and lots of help from the girlsTell her and she will understand.

On my cousins birthday I baked her a cake as well, then i baked myself a low carb almond pound cake (not good for indcution however) . It was delicious and i didn't feel like i missed out.

For future maybe you should try doing a recipe search and baking either the regular and a lc alternative, or just a low carb one?

whenver i go to any family get togethers I always offer to bring desert as well..and i make it a lc cheesecake (this would be good for induction)

Linda's Low carb site is great because she has tried all of the recipes and gives you an honest opinion of what she thought of it (this is where i got my pound cake recipe from), she also marks all induction friendly recipes witha '*':

Yes, I thought of doing something low carb as an addition, but then i would be tempted to eat more of that one, than just the one slice of the regular. Also, I wasn't going to bake her a low carb cake, she had her heart set on a princess strawberry cake, and i didn't want to ruin the whole experience, and be a total control freak about it. I think the low carb thing is a great option for bringing a dish somewhere, so i know i have something to eat when i get there, but for some reason this time, it just felt right to let it "be". On a bright note i lost .4 lbs overnight, go figure. And I am still in ketosis. Today I am eating carefully, and i've been drinking TONS and TONS of water since yesterday. I think i got away with it this time...but i have no intention of making it a habit. I am just glad it all worked out so i could not worry about it on her birthday.

You are lucky, Your CCl must be around the 40-60 range or more probally. Some people shouldn't attempt this unless they know what their CCl is. Or they could be in for a big suprise the next couple of days.

Sec, I'm glad you came out of it alright. I make an allowance for a Fun Day every 3 weeks and it keeps me on track on all other days. A "Fun Day" for me is absolutely whatever I want for the entire day. No limits. (However, it must be said that I had Fun Days half as often while I was losing the weight.) The only stipulation is that I have to wake up and first do my 20-minute Pilates DVD for the abs, along with my full resistance training routine, and 30 minutes on the treadmill. This helps me feel productive and that the day hasn't been a total wash!

As for the morning-after aftermath, it is horrific. Blech, can't stand the way I feel: slowed down, not as happy and pumped about life in general as I normally am, bloated. I'm sure I could afford to have these Fun Days more often, but that "morning-after" experience keeps me from it. So, why then do I have them every 3 weeks instead of every 3 months? It ensures that I never feel deprived - and if I don't feel deprived, there's no chance of little messups in the meantime, or feeling bitter or annoyed when a friend is having cake or while watching my favorite show Unwrapped on the Food Network. I know to be patient, for it is coming later ...

Not everyone will agree with Fun Days, but they've worked for me since 2001!
