| I am sooo tired of hearing all the BAD PRESS about Atkins. I'm glad you found something positive. I feel like I'm constantly defending my WOL/WOE. I remember when I was one of those people that believed the media hype that Atkins was bad. But you are so right in that you MUST READ THE BOOK. All the negative articles I read constantly report only half-truths or outright lies. Of course, avoiding fruits and vegetables in your diet would be bad - but that is NOT Atkins. The press NEVER mentions the exercise that is non-negotiable or that all types of meat are encouraged NOT just fatty beef (what the press wants the general public to believe). I'm so sick of it. I hate having to defend my choices but I will continue to do it. I'm eating healthier than I EVER have, even when I tried WW, I didn't eat this healthy. I swear I don't understand why people are so dead-set against a WOE that cannot possibly be bad for you. How could eating non-processed food ever be bad for you? What is natural about pasta or white bread that offers practically no nutritional value?I have a girlfriend that is constantly on me about leaving out legumes and high-fiber breads from my diet. I try to tell her that I "hated beans before" at least now having read about their nutritional value, when I DO add them back to my diet, I'll make smart choices. For once, I'm focusing on ME and what's good for me. Reading DANDR has inspired me to read so many other books on nutrition and they are all saying the same thing: good things. Supplements are necessary, not just because "we are cutting out so many foods." Bad carbs are horrible, sugars should be cut from our diets! I didn't mean to ramble on and on, it's jus that recently I've felt so attacked and I was considering starting a thread to vent, but yours gave me the opportunity I needed!! Thanks!!! Punkin-kid I love ADBB

| That's good to hear shrinky! Any chance they have a name or e-mail addy for this author? I would love to send a thank you to him/her. It's nice to read something like that instead of the typical jumping on the bandwagon columnist.

| You can see it online here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/section/0,,2086,00.html The click on 'Read the latest newspaper edition of the Sunday Times', then click on 'Review' then click on 'India Knight - You've been blogged'. The Atkins stuff is after the main article (which is on blogging). Email address (from the print edition) is india.knight@sunday-times.co.uk. Hope that helps! |

| Wow! That was quick! Thank you so much shrinky! Columnists get so much negative replies that I like to respond nicely when I think they've done an exceptional job. Thanks again!
