| If you read a lot of the FAQs/stickies here and on the Atkins.com site (assuming it's still up) you'll get a sense of what the differences are. I don't know since I never read 1992 |

| Iap is right, check out the FAQ section and you'll find all the info that you need. THere is even a printout of the induction friendly foods. 1) Measure before you start 2) Eat no more that 2-3 cups of legal veggies 3) Check out www.fitday.com and try to keep your menu at 65% fat, 30 % protein and 5% carbs. Drink 64 oz of water plus another 8 oz for every 25 pounds you want to lose and exercise We can do this. Glad you posted and glad your not discouraged.

| I tried Atkins once before in 1999, and the book I used was the 92 version. So when I started this time, that's the same book I used. I'm not a walking DANDR encyclopedia, but the biggest difference is how you do OWL, I think. Instead of Rungs, you just added back in 5 net grams of carbs of whatever food you wanted - within reason of course. That's how I started OWL and I wasn't gonna go back and redo it the new way. This way worked/works for me. |

| I did the 92 version as well and had great success (lost 56 pounds in 6 months in 2000). I have read the 2002 version too. I tend to get the two mixed up. So, I guess you could say I'm doing a little of both. But as mentioned, read the stickys. There is no two day period where you limit carbs to zero as in the 92 books, you just do a 14-day induction keeping under 20 carbs, eating only the foods on the allowed food list (you'll find this in the sticky's), eat no more than 3 cups of veggies from allowed food list. Oh, and diet soda, caffiene and aspartame are banned in the 2002 book. Good luck!!

| Adding to what Cajun said about OWL, there are a few differences in how you do Induction too. Cheese in 1992 is unlimited like meat and other protein foods. No meats containing nitrates or added sugar is allowed (which means most bacons and cold cuts). Carbs in 1992 are counted as total carbs, not net carbs. The veggie amounts are somewhat different. Other than that is the 1992 diet effective? Sure it is, provided you follow the 1992 rules. The only bit of confusion that will occur is if you choose to use it and ask questions about it here because this board uses the 2002 book.

| Thanks Everyone! Well it just goes to prove that the FAQ are really helpful as I had already read them...some of them several times and it seems that they replaced whatever knowledge was in the book in my head as I already knew about the ratio stuff and the limits and to just count effective carbs. So fortunately I was already on the right track there. I already have the print out too and have my fitday account up and ready for awhile now. Sounds like I will be fine during Induction and should have the REAL book by the time I move onto OWL. I hadn't really read much about that as I wanted to get the induction part down. Iap...I don't know if I would be recommending the atkins.com site for the newbies like me to go to as it can be confusing....I went into the induction menus and I can have Atkin's bread and I think there was even a shake and a bar in there too. I know I would got a good hand slap if I posted that in my induction menu for everyone to see...LOL! I really appreciate all the answers! I am feeling so much better that I will be doing this right! Thanks again!
