Nearly lost 1000 pounds on Atkins!!

My dh bought me a beautiful ring last week but it meant I had to 'shuffle' the others I usually wear and chose to add a lovely antique sapphire /diamond one I havent worn for years to my wedding ring finger.
It felt a little loose but I put a piece of elastoplast on my finger to hold it till I could buy one of those ring-clips to stop it falling off. This seemed to be fine.
I knew the ring was on my finger before we got in the car to go shopping but when we arrived at the shops I saw to my horror that the ring had gone!!
We immediately drove the 5 miles home to start to look indoors for the ring but knowing that if it had slipped off between the house and the car we would never see it again. We live in a fairly busy area with a lot of 'foot traffic' so I assumed if I had dropped it someone would have found and kept it.
However when we pulled up alongside our entrance - there lying sparkling in the sunshine was my ring lying on the pavement (sidewalk) just waiting for me to claim it
Talk about a lucky break as it is supposed to be worth over a thousand pounds!! Needless to say it now has had a clip fitted to stop it straying again, and as soon as I am sure my fingers have stopped shrinking I will have it resized!

And the moral of this story is , , , , , Get those rings resized or stop waering them till you can have it done or you will lose far too many pounds on Atkins

I woke up the other morning with my engagement ring hanging off my finger! I would have been devestated had I lost it.

I'm SO glad you found your ring! What a nice gift! (Can your hubby call mine with ideas, our 11th is this Friday. LOL)

talk about lucky breaks!!! I did something similar with a $700 chain my hubby bought me... I didn't have the clasp fastened I guess... stopped on the way to work, pumped gas, went in store... on the way back to my truck.. I looked down on the ground and immediately recognized my chain!!! it hadn't been run over or anything...

it was early morning so thankfully not many people out and about yet... I got lucky...

as for rings... I have small inexpensive gold bands... and when I wear a lose fitting ring, I put one on to keep the ring from slipping.. (with my weight gain I had rings sized UP... and I'm not ready to size them down yet)

I bet your heart sank I had the same thing happen when I was younger I had a ring I had received from my Dad it was very special I had worn it all the time and it had gotten very lose I was working in 7-11 at the time and dumping the garbage and my ring fell into the garbage. I looed through the trash but, couldn't find it and Lost my Gem. I am sooo happy you found yours.

oh phewwwwwwwwwww!! What a relief!!!! Thank god you found it!

Again I bring up the story about me taking a quick wee before work one day and hearing a *clink* as my thumb ring dropped off! I knew it was a matter of time because it had become SO loose, but geez louise..nice place for it to jump ship....thankyou Ajax but my hand and ring have never been so clean. Later in the day my other ring scooted out to the end of my finger as I handed my boss something so after work I went straight to the jewelry store and had them resized.

Please please don't let your rings get too loose!!! My rings aren't terribly expensive, but they mean a great deal to me

Wow...I'm soooo happy for you that you found it! That would have been heart breaking. I wear a small fortune between my wedding ring and my "just because" ring on my right hand. Thankfully I have big knuckles (I really do...it's goofy) and they don't slide off! Thank goodness it turned out all right for you!
