Default Dealing with stress (long post warning!)

So, until Sept 12th, I'm acting as manager for the store that I work at.
A little background on my work history...I've had my share of high-stress well-paying jobs and it took it's toll. This one I have been at now for almost 2 years is pretty much low-stress when the manager is here. Mon to Fri, short morning shifts...I'm really happy with it, but it comes at a cost because it's at minimum wage. The lack of stress makes this worth it though.

So anyway, my manager goes away and since I have the most seniority, I'm the acting manager (for the same rate of pay, mind you)

Day 1 and Day 2 went by fine...even with the owner visiting it went very well.
Today the kaka hit the fan.
First the bookwork came up over $95 short for tuesday. I've gone over the numbers several times, searched the cash registers for a $100 bill that may have gotten snagged somewhere and recounted the change float. Not a clue where it could be.

Then, one of our keyholders came in and gave her notice. Her last day is Sept. 6th.
I said many many four letter words in the privacy of the back room and then I called a manager in one of our other stores (she's my 'babysitter' while our manager is away) and we slowly went through the schedule and got that pretty much sorted out.
I guess it's a good reflection on me but the woman who is leaving had sat down and worked out some possibilities for shift coverage, so that I wouldn't be left holding the bag. I thanked her for that (there are no hard feelings in her leaving..she just got a better job and that's understandable) and she said that if our manager had been there she wouldn't have gone to the trouble of trying to cover shifts.

Anyway, how this relates to Atkins is that when I went to get dinner groceries after work, I reflected on how in the past I would have definitely come home with significant treats, because I had obviously earned them due to my rough day, right?!

I'm pleased to say that even though I did stop and read the ingredients of an Endulge Peanut Butter Cup (can you say 'SUGAR ALCOHOL'?!!!), I just got what I needed for dinner and came home. I had a snack of cheese and pepperoni, and I'm looking forward to making a nice dinner of Lemon Caper Chicken.

Atkins is my rock..it's my stability. I can't say how happy I am to have that sugar monster off my back, and to have my priorities in a healthy order as they are now.

So that was my day...that's 3 days down, 12 more workdays to go!!!

Excellent moochie!!!! Sometimes it takes these little trials to make us realize how much control Atkins really gives us! Nicely done!
