| Just an FYI, you cannot/shouldn't be posting this article, the link is fine but the following line says you cannot copy and paste the article, just a heads up. (© 2003 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. ) |

Thanks for the FYI. I was concerned as a new person to this woe. I wanted to know feedback to alieviate fears that I have that you can lose wt on this diet and keep it off. That I can look forward to this article being wrong. That all of this hard work is going to be lost. At this stage where I am at, I do worry and this response didn't help, other than to make me feel ashamed I have read a lot of articles that have been posted and I did not feel that putting this on here was too damaging. I sincerely apologize to all on this forum! |

| Thank you for the information very interesting! I hope He would have been alive to see how Atkins has helped people, and that scientist and MDs are recognizing the diet as safe. |

| Atkins is like exercising. If you stop, you lose the benefits. The medical profession already treats obesity as a disease. The problem is, they don't treat it as if it's a chronic disease. Chronic diseases like diabetis stay with you once you have it, it stays with you. You can treat it but you can't cure it (not yet anyway). If you stop treating your diabetis, the complication associated with it will arise. People with diabetis have to learn to incorporate diabetis treatment into their lifestyle. The same goes for Atkins. Most people on Atkins learn that their bodies are carbohydrate intolerant which leads to obesity. Atkins treats this condition but does not cure it. If you are carb intolerant, you will always be carb intolerant. Preventing obesity from recurring requires incorporating Atkins into your lifestyle, which is why the people on this board refer to Atkins as a "Way of Life" or a "Way of Eating" and not as a "diet". Atkins as a "diet" as commonly understood by people does not work.

Thank you so much for your input Matawguro. You really helped me to look at obesity in a way that is life long treatment and effort. Thanks to all others for your advice. I was having a very bad depressed day yesterday and I was feeling very over whelmed. Didn't mean to be so.... Michele |

| We all have our bad days. Today seems to be my bad spelling day since I seem to have mispelled diabetes.

| My intent was not to make you feel ashamed, I just know from personal experience that posting things that are copywrited not to be reproduced can have bad effects |
