I'd seriously ask your doctor. It doesn't make any sense! It could be thyroid, it could be elevated levels of estrogen. It is just really strange! Of course I'd love to say "oh, that's just your fat-burning engine"... but feeling all hottie flashes all the time coupled with the lethargy have me thinking a blood test is probably in order.

I agree with Cleo, see a doctor. By the way, what is your "baseline" temperature?

The one question I have is did you move onto OWL, if so,when you began adding carbs back, did the fever subside.

Oh poor you. I hope you feel better soon.
I have to say that I have really hot flushes etc. and was also concerned it was Atkins. I did the same as you and stopped doing it for a while. I went for blood tests whilst I was still on this WOE and the doc could see how hot I was - I was dripping - but my blood tests revealed no problems. I think it is hormonal as I had a baby in April.
I don't think it is related to Atkins as otherwise you would get lots of 'me too' posts. I definitely agree with the others that you should get to the doctors to have a check up.
Get well soon hun x

Default Re: Fever? What IS this?

I'm having more hot flashes since I've re-inducted. Is your fever constant? Or does it come and go? I thought I had some kind of disorder a few years ago until I started timing them (they came every 55 minutes and lasted about 1 minuted) then I realized that I wasn't actually hot all the time, just for a minute or so every hour. Turns out I was in perimenopause. You are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too young for that, but as others have mentioned, it could be hormonal. Estrogen is stored in fat, especially abdominal fat. When you lose the fat the hormones have nowhere to go except to fly around making you hot (no, I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on t.v.). My hot flashes had subsided somewhat over the last year, but when I started Atkins they fired themselves up again. I'm not saying this is your problem, but you just had a baby a year ago. Maybe there are still a lot of hormones in storage. If your doc is anti Atkins I wouldn't mention it. Just get him to do a blood test to rule out anything else. Also, talk to Sarah (iyamamashke - hope I spelled that right). She gets really, really hot just before she has a whoosh. Maybe she can shed some light on this.

LOL. Ya I got extremely Hot when I started Atkins like you I felt feverish all the time and really felt like crud. I had to up my carbs very soon after this can be a sign or rapid weight loss I have done a lot of research on this. The body is burning off fat soo fast that you feel sick flushed and darn right sick. I would definately up your veggie carbs try to go up 5grams of carbs and see if that helps. When the fever goes away you know you have found a good level for you. Maybe you are blessed with a high metabolism. When I am whooshing have have about 1 week where I am feverish and my temp can go up to 102 I feel crappy and lethargic tired no energy, funny how it works. I sure hope that you do feel better soon. Try upping the veggiecarbs and see how that goes. That may be all you need to feel well.

I've been losing a buttload climbing the ladder rungs, too. Exercise is still the key! Just make sure you're adding in only one or twonew foods a few times a week at first to make sure you're not having any bad reactions to them. This rotation diet has helped me weed out a bunch of foods I now know I can't eat! This is one of the reasons I love Dr A! He's the man!
