| oh that stinks Sarah! How about home made beef jerky? pound and marinate flank steak in sesame oil and soy cut thin and bake in the oven on low for a few hours or if you have a dehydrator you can use that. (Much more economical) Isn't it strange how sensitive we are once we start taking care of ourselves? Imangine just how many foods made you feel like crap and you didn't even know it! Keep pluggin girl.

| Hey Sarah, I always keep some cheese chips (homemade) in my car. They are crunchy and munchy, and seem to fill the gap! I also keep homemade low carb muffins and cookies around too! Too bad about the nuts, they're a lifesaver too. But in your case, I wouldn't chance it anymore. A bottle of water is always around in the car, and can fill you up fast! |

| I have a couple of small packages of Hotrods(Slimjims) in the car. These are there just for emergency and I picked them because they did not have to be brought in and out of the house because most times I am not prepared that I am away from home for extra long. That way they are always in there. If I think I am going to be away then I will grab a couple of cheese sticks to bring with me. If you can do the seed thing then you may be able to do sunflower or pumpkin seeds. Sunflower would keep better than homemade pumpkin seeds. However winter is coming so that would help. Let us know if you come up with a good idea!

| I make my cheese chips in the microwave but others put them in the oven. Just take small cubes of cheese and spread them out and nuke them a minute at a time till they are spread out and crispy. You can make them out of piles of grated cheese too - and even add spices or small bits of chives/peppers to make them different, but watch how close you put them or you will get a cheese plate!! I find they keep well in an airtight container for seveeral days or more.

| The smokies and cheese that someone mentioned earlier are actually safe for the car. It is packaged in a sealed plastic and aren't refrigerated. My husband and I bought these while traveling to have a car snack. You will find them in most convenience stores, gas stations etc. they aren't the healthiest of snacks, but it helps in a bind.
