Default Red Meat

I was wondering how many times a day/week everyone eats red meat? I would have made it a poll but wouldn't even begin to know what categories to come up with for amounts on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. (Am I making sense?) Anyway, I was thinking about this since I made a delicious roast last night and have eaten it for dinner last night, breakfast this am and lunch this afternoon! I don't want it to go to waste and it is soooooo yummy! How much red meat is too much??? Thanks in advance for the insight!

Default Re: Red Meat

It's my main staple!!!! Honestly, I crave it. I am kind of a low energy type person and it's one of the few foods that has tons of iron in it which helps fight any anemia a person may be prone to. Even though I am not anemic anough for a diagnosis, it runs in my family and people who lean towards it tend to be low in energy. It also seems that there are always conflicting reports to how good and how bad it is for you - like wine. Honestly, I just go with the flow. My grandparents ate red meat most of the time and only died of natural causes at ripe old ages. Funny, though, they were always fairly active and ate limited amounts of starches.....

Default Re: Red Meat

I have it maybe twice a week. I like meatballs, so that is my main source of red-meat. My husband likes to barbecue, so about once a month, we'll barbecue some steaks.

My main source of meat is chicken & fish.

I love meatballs, too! Such an easy thing to grab when you're in a hurry. For me, I have beef about every other day - at least.

Default Re: Red Meat

Each day I will have a generous portion (up to 8 oz) of beef, pork, lamb or chicken. If I have bacon or sausage for breakfast there's some more.

So you see its mostly red - I also tuck in heathily to fresh or tinned fish. I don't like cheese, so its meat and fish for me.

What do I say when people say to me

"ATKINS ! ? ! "

"Who wants chips when you can have two steaks!"

I am a Brit, so by "chips" I mean "French Fries"

I love a good ribeye at least two or three times a week. Sonny's bbq has really good bbq sliced beef by the pound and I will pick that up once a week.

Both with Carb Options tasty bbq sauce.

Today I grilled a nice ribeye and had it with a big helping of the mashed fauxtatoes recipe I found on Sheila's site. It was awesome.

Default Re: Red Meat

Probably at least 4 - 6 meals per week (steaks, hamburgers, roasts) with pork and chicken representing the other meal features. Of course, my breakfasts look like most people lunches too -- no eggs, which leaves more room for meat and veggies.
