Smile Share your Non-Scale Victories

We were discussing Non-Scale Victories in the challenge thread and at LCBB (our sister board).

Share your Non-Scale victories here!

Have you overcome an obstacle? Impressed someone with your weight loss? Not given in to a temptation?

Those are all victories that, while maybe not having to do with weight, do make a huge difference in how we work towards success, one step at a time!

So what is your non-scale victory? Share one, share many. Inspire others!

I haven't had a diet coke since Sunday!

I re-started Induction on Monday, and in addition to no diet cokes, I've been 100% on plan.

With the exception of their most gorgeous bras, I've shrunk out of Lane Bryant's clothes. Which on one hand I'm really cool with, but on the other hand I'm a little bummed, as I love their styles!

Also, the look on my (heavy) friend's face when I walked into her son's birthday party 70 pounds lighter. She always would lump us together (Holly and I will eat it!... You know what it's like to be fat, etc) even though she was always WAY bigger than me. I hadn't seen her in a while and hadn't told her I was losing weight. That was a huge boost. She was always trying to cut me down. NO MORE!

The arthristis in my hands is barely noticeable.
I can now walk for 2 hours.
I am wearing size 16's. Yeah!
I now wear a L in shirts. No plus sizes for me anymore.
A friends husband about fell over yesterday. He hadn't seen me since losing weight and he was gushing about how much different I looked. That made my day!
I drink water 95% of the time now.
I don't snack very often.
I feel awesome!

I'm sure there are many more.

conratulations to everyone - especially to Effie on the lack of diet cokes as that is one of my weaknesses so its nice to know I can do it if I try...

... my trousers are too big which is fab, I'm still wearing them because the next size down is a tiny bit too tight (although I can get them done up now) but they're hanging down on my hips rather than my tummy holding them up!!! I'm excited about that - don't know what my waist measures though because I'm not doing that again for two weeks!

Way to go everyone!

For me, last night I was feeling very depressed. Hubby is out of town. Before, on this way of eating whenever he left town, I'd console myself with Pizza and Red Vines licorice. Last night I had to fight to stay away from the Reese's Peanut Butter Puffs in the kitchen. I was literally on the verge of tears.

I made it through, though!

It might not seem like much, a quick moment in the space-time continuum, but for me it could have led to 4 days of carby badness. And I didn't cave. I overcame the most base need inside of me to feed the emotion and I won.

Good for you, Cleo! My major accomplishment? Being on induction for 16 days - almost can't count them anymore. Also, I've actually exercised the last 2 days. I've learned that my comfort food can be replaced by eating something fatty or cheesy....mmmmmm.

Every victory is a victory..whether it's big or it's small, it's all worth celebrating!
I realized the other day that when I walked through the bakery department of the grocery store I didn't do my 'horse with blinkers on' walk, where I stare straight ahead and hold my breath! I enjoyed the smells of it all, but I didn't get all emotional about it like I did in the beginning.

I've talked before about how I give myself little pep talks and stuff (in my head,...people get weird if you actually say these things out loud...lol..trust me)
because we're all our own cheerleader when push comes to shove, right?

Good job everyone on these non-scale victories! These may be even more meaningful than the scale victories because they mean we are winning the war on our battle to stop letting food control us. We are in control of the food now! Way to go!!!!

I guess mine would be going through the drive thru at Dunkin Donuts to get morning coffee on my way to work, not realizing they had a special that you got a free donut with a large coffee purchase. I bought a large coffee and told them to keep the free donut! That was MAJOR for me as I love Dunkin donuts chocolate donuts with chocolate icing. I got my large black coffee and drove to work feeling VERY good about being in control of my eating.

I never thought it would be possible for me to do that.

In what category does this come?

Just back from a bike ride. A couple of miles from home I passed a gaggle of teenage girls who shouted "Hi" as I passed. Goodness! It's a good job they can't see the wrinkles.

A few weeks ago I came to a halt at a junction behind a school bus. After a few seconds gazining absently at the luggage door of the bus I noted the girls on the back seat were furiously trying to attract my attention. I am old enough to be their Grandfather.

Was it the road bike or the lycra?
