| I've always been able to put away more than most men I know; a "trucker's" appetite, if you will. Now I can have that appetite and be slim - I just had to make a few modifications about my food choices once I began Atkins 4+ years ago.

| Atkins has surprised me because it is the only "diet" that I have ever stuck with for more than one week. I can eat and get full and not feel like a bloated whale. Oh, and I have found many new cyber friends as a bonus! Deb Quote:

| What has surprised me about Atkins is that I rarely have cravings. I eat alot less than I did before, and get full alot earlier. I don't get those I'm stuffed feelings anymore. My skin looks clearer, and my hair is shinier, Must be all that water! It's rather easy to eat low carb! |

| It amazes me how little I think about WANTING food just to munch on. It also amazes me how much sense it makes that a diet should consist mostly of meat and nutritious vegetables. It's such a shame that people lose out on what they could be experiencing because they refuse to think for themselves.

| What surprised me? 1. How easy it was. 2. I would only discuss on men's forum.

| hmmm, well for me I think how quickly the cravings for sweets went away. I have been eating quite healthily for quite some time but couldn't control the cravings for chocolate and bread. Since I have cut the carbs (I am in induction) after the first few days I no longer have the uncontrolable craving for chocolate- I can walk by a bakery and not feel the need to indulge- the same thing with chocolate.

| This way of eating has made me realize how much I used to rely on food before, how much of a part of my life it played. Now, like someone else said, I too have to force myself to eat because I'm never hungry. The food I eat by choice to lose weight isn't addicting, it isn't something I ever crave, and so I'm never tempted to pick at food or snack anymore. Another thing that surprised me was my slight addiction to sweet foods. After a month of no candy, very little sugar, I had a small slice of birthday cake for my brother's 17th birthday, and I couldn't even finish it. The amount of sugar in it turned my stomach, and it tasted foul to me. That's got to be a good thing, right?

| The thing that surprised me and continues to surprise me is that I am actually volunteering for exercise. I don't think there is a single other time in my life where I said "boy I want to go running" or did it. Before my exercise plan was if it was a team sport, I was doing it. But exercise by yourself, never. This time, however, I am doing it (exercise) daily. I know nothing revolutionary, but it was/is brand new to me. The other thing that surprised me is how little I miss pizza. From a 4-5 times per week occurance to a seldom made low carb (Biker's Goddess) occurance, I lived on the stuff. Now I can bring the family to a pizza place and not even be tempted.

| On the sweet tooth question, I should add that I don't like even tomatoes over much - they are too sweet!
