Default Isn't it silly

To be somewhat "jealous" (and that may not be the appropriate word) of those of you who have lost really substantial amounts of weight (Moochie comes to mind), while I don't feel that I have lost lots, nor is there substantial difference in photos (which, in part, is why I don't bother adding more to my collection, and also because I hate to have my photo taken).

Is it competition?
Is it jealousy?

I certainly am delighted on your/their behalf, but wish I had something more significant to show for my (lack of) efforts.

Is it because it happened so effortlessly?
Is it because maintenance, although work, is almost "boring"?

Or, is it just because I'm absolutely wierd?

I don't think it's jealousy so much as us beating ourselves up for not being where we see others are?

I know maintenance has to be hard work! I am almost glad to still be in duction with so much weight to lose. I'm relishing the journey. Hitting goal, for me, is extremely frightening. And I know that has to sound silly.

{{{cmcole}}} You look wonderful. And so does our moochie!

It's not silly. And I don't think it's jealousy, but I don't know what the word is either. You've lost 38 and you have 7 more to lose. So 100% of what you want to lose is 45 lbs. Some people have to lose 200, some 70, some 25. The point is....everyone wants to lose 100% of whatever it is they have to lose. And it's not easy for anyone. It might look like Cleo or Sarah have lost tons of weight (well, they have lost lots) but it might only be 50% of what they want to lose. Whereas you've already lost, hmmmmm (not so good in math) I dunno 85% of what you have to? So the big numbers don't matter. What ticks me off (at myself) is that I've been watching people shrink and now they've almost caught up to me and I'm still pooping around where I started, more or less. I envy them their stick-to-it-iveness.

You're doing a great job! And you look great. You may be weird, but I don't know you well enough to comment on that. *l*

with maintnenance you have no end to reach so it becomes an endless drar on you therer are no yippppee Lo st mini successes. In maintnenace you can only fail as your goal is a negative one not gaining as long as you stay focoused on the scale as your verification of your hard work.

Find something esls as your goals. Being a size ____ whatever when you go shopping for the next wardrobe adition.

Increasing your exercise intensity speed milafe reps whatever. make it something to challenge yourself as scale weight lose used to be and then reward yourself just like you did when you lost weight POSt a Yipppee I'm going .1 MPH faster on my workouts. YIpppeee I moved up a level on the stepper machine. Yipeeee I bought size ___ winter coat like i planned to.

Then list your goals in your siggy and have something positive to work towards instead of fail=ure to maintain to fear.

Shooting for a body fat percentage goal is also another way to celebrate the victories!

Funny....half of us are probably sitting there looking at your picture and wishing we had your stats underneath our signature. Ahh..the head games we play with ourselves. For what it is worth I get inspired by not only those who have lost a lot of weight but by those who are so close to goal...that they actually are doing it! And also by those who are at their goal weight or under...especially when I see their start date. If it was a short time ago I am like...wow...if I work hard I can get there to. Or if they have been at goal for a long time then it is inspiring that it can be done and stuck too!

So I find you pic and stats as inspiring to me as Moochies!

You guys....I've got such a strong pair of fat goggles on, and I can't tell you how much this helps me to hear that I'm being used as an example of someone who has "lost really substantial amounts of weight". That blows me away, and while this thread isn't about me, I appreciate the roundabout compliment.

Do you think maybe that when we look at someone elses pictures, our brain views it as if one day they were heavy and the next day they were thin? For some reason we forget the span of time inbetween that first photo and the second so we think that they have had it so easy?

I've been on a plateau for months now...hovering over the same three pounds...it's really boring, but it's better than gaining. I hear of people who have lost a lot of weight and are still losing and it's very frustrating to me because I haven't been able to post a "I've lost X pounds!" thread for a million years. It made me feel so good to post those kinds of threads. I can't expect to get that same enthusiasm posting a "I'm the same weight I was for the last three weeks!!!" thread...you know?

It's not so much directed at anyone, it's just a situational thing.
