Default Why I want to be successful on Atkins

1. Before refined sugar and flour, heart attacks and tooth decay were unknown. It's too late for the tooth decay, but I haven't had a heart attack, yet. Why would I want to?!

2. Pre-Atkins, my blood pressure was too high, as were my cholesterol and triglycerides. After six months on Atkins, they were all in the LOW normal range. Who wants to go back to that?!

3. Better than any medication I've ever tried, staying on Atkins seems to keep my migraines at bay. Wouldn't want to go back to those, either!

4. 60% of Americans are overweight. I've always thought it would be neat to be part of a minority!

5. I'm quite a bit older than my significant other. I don't want folks saying, "What does he see in that old fat slob?" !!

6. In spite of Cleo's demands, I know I'll never be sexy and handsome, again, but I am vain enough to want to look the best I can for my age. Nothing wrong with that, right?

7. When I retire, I hope to travel to lots of interesting places. I can't do that if I'm fat and have no energy.

8. I can now put the seat tray down on an airplane. I certainly don't want to return to the days when I couldn't. How embarrassing that was!

9. On Atkins I have the energy that I lost several decades ago. Sure don't want to lose it, again!

10. I didn't go swimming for nearly a decade, because I was too embarrassed to be seen in swim trunks. I'd forgotten just how much I love the beach, and I want to continue to go every summer.

11. I love having the energy to be able to go out and do things -- have fun! I no longer have to spend all my time sitting in front of the tv or computer.

12. XX-large (and larger) shirts cost more. Who wants to throw away money?!

So, why do YOU want to be successful on Atkins?

Chris,

What a great Thanksgiving post. I can't ever answer this question too many times. I want to be successful on Atkins because...

1. Even at the ripe age of 36, I still dream of having children one day. Atkins is my road to better health. I want to be healthy to have children and then grow older to see them graduate college, marry the loves of their lives and see my own grandchildren grow up too!

2. I want to look good in my clothes and great naked!!

3. I want to enjoy walking on the beach (or at the pool) in a swimming suit that exudes the beauty and sexiness I know I possess!

4. I want to go to amusement parks and carnivals and be ABLE to get on and ENJOY every single ride!

5. I want to one day be able to run a marathon (or lots!)

6. I want to be able to keep up with my future children when they are toddlers and young children running around with tons of energy.

7. I want to show my family that it is possible to enjoy food and be healthy without adding sugar and flour to your diet.

I want this and a lot more (in no particular order)!! Thanks, Chris!!

Hugs,
Punkin-kid

Why do I want to be successful on Atkins?

1. Bad family genetics: Both sides of my family have diabetes, heart disease, etc. by the time we reach 50. The luckier family members drop dead. The unluckier family members spend the last years of their lives in and out of hospitals and sort of waste away by getting weaker and weaker until one day at the hospital they die.

2. Since being on Atkins, my asthma and allergies have improved tremendously. I used to be on 3 daily medications for allergies and 2 daily medications for my asthma. I'm currently on 1 allergy medication during 2 months of the year and I only need my asthma medication before I exercise. This WOE has given me back my life because I can breathe.

1. I have too many cute outfits I haven't worn in too many years and more black things I've never purchased yet.

2. I have to stop the cycle of overweight that runs in my family and will affect my children someday unless something changes. I won't let them waste their best years like I did.

3. I will never take anti-depressants, anti-reflux medicine, or anti-hypertension medicine ever ever ever evah again!

4. I want my husband to be able to pick me up!

5. Because I don't know that person in my before photographs anymore. That was the person who couldn't achieve anything. I have too much to do with my life.

6. I want to run up the side of a mountain.

7. Because I know that when I hit goal, any one of us can do it, too.

Why do I want to be successful on Atkins?

I am tired of being the 'fat woman' everywhere I go. I want people to not feel sorry for my husband for being married to me. I want them to say, "They make a good looking couple." instead.

I want my children and grandkids to be proud of me and have fun with me instead of feeling sorry for me. I want to be able to enjoy time with them, go places and do things.

I want to feel good about myself and wear clothes that are complementive. It seemed that all the stores I shopped at with the sizes I wore had polka-dots and large flowers for my size.

I want to have my picture taken and not be ashamed. I used to hide or tear up every photo that I found of myself and then I'd feel ashamed.

I want to be a part of life and talk with people without worrying about my looks. I never let anyone know the real me because I was too afraid they would be offended by my size/looks.

I want to be able to cross my legs, bend over and pick up things off the floor, walk up steps and take a walk without being out of breath.

I want to be able to eat without being embarrassed that someone is watching me and thinking that I am too fat to be eating.

There are a lot more, but these are a few of the ones I am most passionate about.

Default Re: Why I want to be successful on Atkins

I started out doing Atkins mainly for someone else. I didn't want to be the 'fat friend' when I met my penpal. This gave me the initial willpower. Then, slowly, slowly things began to change:

Now... I do Atkins for myself and my family. I don't want them ashamed of me and I don't want to be ashamed of myself... as I was. I want to be successful because I want to be healthy and keep the energy I've found. I want to keep my new self-image. I want to stay slimmer than I was before my first pregnancy.

Atkins rocks!

Sal
