Default Body proportions

I plan to buy a new bicycle in the spring and have been surveying the market.

Today I had confirmed what I already knew - even for my height (6ft 3in) I have exceptionally long legs and a short torso. On the bike fitting jig the critical leg lenght came out at 39 in. They stood me over a 2 in diameter tube and asked me to pull it up (right up to the squeaky voice), then I had to move my feet out on both sides to platforms 1/2 in lower. All my weight was now on the tube, and that is how they took the measurement.

It strikes me that the weight tables must presume an average ratios of legs to torso. Serious departure from the average must change the optimum weight.

Does anyone know if this is a significant effect? I am guessing that long legs and a small torso should depress the target weight. Does anyone know?

I have the opposit going on I have a very short Torso and Long Legs for my Height LOL. SO the opposite is true for me I find I don't have much problem with Bikes and such But I do when it comes to clothing they figure everyone has a long body so I buy the jeans for my size and the waist is up under my Boobs nice hey. SO I buy low rise that normally fit an average person low on the hips well they are right at my waist go figure. Hope ya don't ahve to go into the custom stuff although if you paln to ride a lot it's worth every penny to get the bike that fits you properly. My husband is 6 feet and is Built like a GORILLA I am not saying this to be funny he stand and his arms ar VERY long so to find him anything that fits his arms you gotta buy XXL which is a tent on him ROFL. so he just rolls up his sleeves.

don't go with the tables Use your body fat mass% to determine your healthy of you weight.

2big, surely many body fat % measuring techniques would suffer from the same problem as the tables? Actual measurements would be compaired against an inapropriate standard for those way off the norm. I can see that the caliper method might not suffer from that problem as it is measuring the folds of fat a a particular point.

Body fat is the percent of fat you have and your body will store it proportionally on your body, just as your lean body tissue will be placed propotionately on your body you go in the dunk tank and the difference in the amount of water displaced is your body fat% if you are tall and lanky or short and skinny it will not matter as it is a % of your total body weight not okay 1 liter is X% for everybody.
