| I would imagine that would differ from person to person. Depending on your metabolism, amount/type of exercise you do, how much water you drink etc. I don't know the number. sorry, maybe someone else will have a better answer for you.

| Mine changes almost immediately after a cheat. I would say 30min to 1 hour and all the pretty pink is gone. I have a very low CCLL, don't know if that has anything to do with it. But as Sadie said, it is different for everyone. |

| The ketostix are a good guide, but they don't tell you if the ketones are from the fat you ate in a meal or if they are from the fat in your fat cells. Going by the physical signs of ketosis are much more reliable, imo. 2Big likes to quote a transcript from a Q&A session with one of the Atkins nutritionists who had a woman complain that she wasn't losing weight, but registered a deep ketosis on the sticks. On further questioning, the woman revealed she ate a stick of butter every night. So, remember, those sticks are a good guide, but they aren't an absolute. By the way, while your body is busy metabolising the fat you ate during the "cheat", it's busy storing the carbs you ate as glycogen in your liver or fat on your body. If you stored glycogen in your liver, you won't start burning your body fat again, until after that glycogen is used up. This is why Dr. Atkins specificially warned against doing the "Atkins on weekdays, go off plan on weekends" approach--your body will use up the stored glycogen before it starts metabolizing your fat. As for how many carb it will take for you to leave ketosis. It depends on your metabolism. But generally speaking, a "low carb" diet is considered to be a diet with less than 130 grams carbohydrate.

| it will depend on your metabolism and your activities after you ate it. The sticks tell you the concentration of EXCESS ketones that spilled over from your blood stream to that urine as it was produced. remember it is concentration. Every one doing atkins can make thier stix darker by just drinking less water cause with less fluid in the mix the concnetration goes up for the same amount of ketones present. When you cheat those ketones in your blood are still their and will be used for energy if your tissues need them BUT there will not be excess fatty acid oxigenation which generated the building blocks for ketones as waste from its energy cycle until the insulin produced in responce to that blood sugar increase that cake caused is cleared from your blood stram and the fat burning hormone which is produced in a negative feed back loop with insulin goes up. Then you switch back to fat burning. Exercise will also effect the amount of excess ketones in your bloodstream. if you bust your butt working hard burning off the carbs from your cake and then sit on your butt you should get your color back faster as the ketones will not be being burned up in other places after they are produced to clear the overloaded production line in the TCA burning area of the ATP making from fats. So you can manipluate your body and your foods to get the color back but remember color of stix has nothing to do with weight loss. you can see examples of it in the FAQs on stix all you know is their were excess ketones in the blood stream at the time that urine was formed. Happy low carbing.
