| I think I would have been 200 lbs. by the end of this year for sure, and that scares me. I hope I can hang in for the long haul this time!

| Well, every year I tried a new "diet" and every year I weighed 5 lbs more than the year before. Last year I quit dieting and started Atkins. This January I weighed at least 15 lbs less than last January. It's all going downhill from here. So, yes, I know exactly where I'd be...and I'm glad I never have to go there again.

| I started just days before you and have lost 25lbs since. I've known about Atkins and have been semi low carb for years but had I not controlled my weight some throughout those years with it I probably would be at least 250 by now - at LEAST because before LC i was gaining at a rate of 20#'s per year and had slowed it down to 10.

| I don't think I would have been far off 200lbs by now. But I'm happier with myself, and I love having more energy and feeling great about myself so that's made it all worthwhile! And seeing me like this has made friends and family jump on the bandwagon too!

| OH YES, ALL THE TIME. I'd be 50 years old (same as I am now), on the verge of knee replacement surgery. I'd be taking statin drugs for my cholesterol. I'd be pre-diabetic. I'd be living on Zantac for acid reflux. I'd be taking regular doses of Immodium AD for chronic irritable bowel syndrome. I'd be bitchy, moody, and suffer from migraine headaches. I'd be a full-time couch potato, with the impression of the remote control firmly embossed on my hand. I would be keeping Frito-Lay stock high. Krispy Kreme could have opened 100 more franchises on my $$ alone. I wouldn't have just finished my first half marathon. I wouldn't be training feverishly for my first FULL marathon. I wouldn't know how good kale, turnips, collard greens, turnip greens and snow peas are. I would be drinking upwards of 4 diet sodas a day. McDonalds drive-thru would be my second home. I'd still think eating fat makes me fat! I'd be stuffing myself with fat-free everything and confused as to why I was getting bigger. I'd still think Dr. Atkins was just another 'diet kook'. Betty

| The pleasure I get in having slimmed down is amazing... so, I don't know where I'd be exactly if I hadn't started Atkins last year, but I certainly do know how I'd be: totally miserable with myself. Thank you Dr. A! Sal

| Way to go, ddog! We started Atkins the same day (getting through Halloween was tough, wasn't it?), but even still we have made nearly the same amount of progress. Low carb diets truly work. Thanks for the inspiration!

I was 276 and 5'2" when I started the first time, so.... I would probably be 350-375 by now. Totally miserable and sick all the time. Wonky blood sugar levels. and Bad ankles. Ugh, the whole thought of it all makes me shudder. I was huge and I hated how I looked in everything I wore! Nothing looked good and shopping for clothes was something I dreaded more than anything. Clothes manufacturers assumed if I was that wide I must be 6' too. My tennis shoes got shot out really fast and were all warped looking. I couldn't wear skirts cause my butt was so big that the back was always noticable shorter than the front (of course that still happens! *LOL* but not as bad) My boobs weren't just on the front of my body, they continued around and up under my arms. Roller coaster seats were becoming too small to sit in. Ugh... the agony of it all. And yet I still ate battered and breaded stuff every night, rice with corn as the veggie, potatos and noodles... 64 oz of sweet tea (southern sweet no less) and a big biscuit every morning. And I couldn't figure out why I had the low blood sugar shakes by 11 everyday. I would order veggie patters for lunch. Squash casserole, broccoli casserole, sweet potato casserole and steak fries. Geez... I haven't thought about that time in my life in soooo long. What a good thread!! I wouldn't know the empowerment of losing over 110 lbs (before the baby, I am gettin' back there). Knowing you can do what you thought was impossible is just incredible.
