| I dont know, but one girl I talk to on another message board continuously preaches to me about how wrong and unhealthy atkins is, and that south beach is the best and healthiest diet in the world. It irratates me no end! They're both low carb to my knowledge, I assume that SB is just more fish than atkins. But its not something I've read up on. Just points I've acquired from the internet!

| Before drawing conclusions on which diet is better try doing a board search. There are plenty of threads here on the differences between the two. If you or your hubby decide to go SB then join us at http://www.lowcarbbulletinboard.com/ |

| From my understanding South Beach is higher carbs and lower fat than the Atkins plan. But then again I'm sure some stages of the Atkins plan are identical to South Beach. Atkins has helped me drop weight and keep my blood sugar under control. To me I am sticking with Atkins diet, because I believe it is healthy. But if someone else is having success with another Low Carb Plan then that is fantastic! The only plans I don't support are High Carbs Low Cal. (That's just me personally)

| with south beach you have to watch what you eat a little more. since your able to have more carbs right away you don't go into lipolysis. It's more of a "right fats and the right carbs" thing. (pg. 23 of the south beach diet book) Dr. Agatston is a heart doctor so he also advocates unsaturated fats. |

| Go and have a look at the more general Low Carb Bulletin Bpard - it has a SB section and some discussions and comparisons. As I understand it the diets are very similar but SB is easier in the beginning and harder tat the later stages (I think I have that the right way round!). http://www.lowcarbbulletinboard.com/...splay.php?f=34

| Like Perry and Odille recommend your best bet is to join us at the Low Carb Bulletin Board (links in my signature as well). There's some great south beach information and discussions on there. You're likely going to get a mostly pro-atkins discussion here (this is an atkins board after all). Your id from here isn't connected there..you'll need to join. But it's a great board too!
