New vegetables!

I had the orange today..tasted like cauliflower! I am excited to try the purple now that I know what their origins are.

Okay, that's cute.. but why on earth are they spending money making different colored things that taste like cauliflower..... just curious.

As I read it, Jasmain,these were both natural mutations and have been cultivated to give more variety. They were naturally occurring and have been stabilised through breeding.

Moochie - thanks for that. It says my local Woolworths has the purple one and I'll certainly try it. I love cauliflower raw or cooked! I often have raw cauli in my salad.

Well, I just think that's so cool. We certainly do have some strange things growing in nature. It amazes me sometimes, the things that can happen.

This is how they bred lage and mini cattle and horses too, mutations that for some reason were different to normal and often bred true. Then again, there are the Scottish fold cats where if you breed 2 folded ear cats toghether the gene is lethal and the kittens all die.
