Question Diet Pepsi/coke

Hi all

Im back on the WOE and terrified of gaining more than not losing. This is a great way of losing weight if done correctly- but if one small mistake is made it can mean the difference between gaining twenty pounds or losing twenty pounds- i want to know about diet drinks that say that they are carb and sugar free. Are we allowed them and if so how much?

I know that nothing can replace herbal teas or water. I drink probably just over two litres every day even before atkins, but the high fat foods can sometimes make me feel so so queasy and ill. I almost feel like i need something to cut the grease.

Any opinions?

Great to be back!

An occasional diet soda will not set you back .. shoot for one that is caffeine free and sweetened with splenda instead of nutrasweet.

Best wishes to you!

Great to be back!

Savannah, the diet drinks in the uk are mostly sweetened with aspartame, which is a "no no" as that sweetener is a common staller in people.

If you can find a drink sweetened with Splenda, then that is ok. But I am not aware of any in this country (I am also in the UK).

Sorry about that, HTH a little?

Rich

I think someone said that the Boots flavoured waters are sweetened with Splenda, I know they were legal anyway.

I find that I can have maybe one can a week as a treat, and it wont stall me, but I guess everyone is different (Sorry Richt, I know you don't want me to drink them!)

The UK is not too geared up for Atkins I'm afraid, not as much as the US is.

Good luck!

Thanks Guys. It all helps.

I think Holland and Barrett have some carb free drinks, at least the bigger ones do.

I have tried ordering the carb free drinks before from websites and treating myself to one a week, not too expensive when i consider what i used to spend on diet coke and wine every week.
Just wanted to know if it was allowed.
Thanks , ill give the boots water a try as well.

Just make sure you drink it on top of your real water, and not instead of.

And be sure to count it towards your sweenter allowance.

Hiya, I drink probably 3 cans of coca cola caffeine free a day and ive lost 45 lb's on atkins now so the bit of aspartame doesnt really affect me, The main reason for that sweetner being avoided as far as i know is that it causes sugar cravings, and to be frank, i have never ever had a sweet tooth.

However caffeine totally buggers up my weight loss completely. So does smoking aswell which is really strange.

I do quite alot of excercise and drink probably 90oZ water a day i think fi u drink water around it it helps neagte the effect.

I think its quite person specific.

Hope this information was usefull for you

Cheers

Ian

Thanks Guys , terriefied of gaining instead of losing so I will prob be asking alot more remedial questions, despite having memorized the book from cover to cover.

Ill steer clear from the diet drinks for the moment probably- to break what is definently a habit. But will treat myself on the weekend to at least one.

Thanks again
