Default It really dawned on me how far 26.2 miles is!

Yesterday it was like a revelation ... 3 days after the marathon I thought "my gawd .. I ran 26.2 miles! ME!"

Isn't that weird .. I thought about nothing else for months .. I trained rigorously right up until the day ... and it didn't really sink in for 3 days after the fact that I actually ran that far!

Is there such a thing as being so engrossed in training that you lose sight of the real ACHIEVEMENT until much later?? How weird am I??

Dang, 26.2 MILES! I get impatient DRIVING THAT FAR, let alone spending 5+ foot-pounding hours on the pavement!!

At the risk of sounding like I'm bragging (which I am NOT) .. it just amazes me even yet! I keep looking at the medal here at work, thinking "I DID THAT?"

Maybe its sorta like when you lose alot of weight .. you look in the mirror and somehow you still see the "fatty" staring back at you .. until all of a sudden your mind embraces the achievement and you say "HOLY SCHMOKES! LOOK AT ME!"

Too funny. I AM WEIRD!

Betty

You darn right that's far!!! I've done it on a bike several times, but never even came close to what you're doing by pounding feet!

Believe me Betty, we were all there with you in spirit!

And yes, you really should brag about it!

Rick

You have every right to brag! You ran a marathon!!! Heck, I'd be shouting from the rooftops and telling everyone I met, "I ran a marathon!!!"

Be very proud and brag away! You've earned that right!

don't think too hard about how long it was or you might talk yourself out of the next one before you even sign up.

You did MARATHON fueled by ATKINS woo hoo and you can do another one too!

Does your medal remind you of the precious in the LTR movies?

HUH?

Thanks everyone for your endorsement of "bragging rights" .. but truthfully, I didn't post with the intention of bragging at all .. I just suddenly had this revelation of how far that truly is .. and I was AMAZED! Amazed that I could actually do it after years and years (decades, really) of being inactive and saying I didn't have energy to exercise ...

Bottom line: ITS NEVER TOO LATE to turn it around!! I am living proof!

I'm heading out soon to give it another go .. see what these old bones can do...

Some people say not to run at all the week after a marathon .. I just can't buy that!! I feel like a mega slacker!!

So off I go!

Betty

Go and shout it from the rooftops, girl. You have definitely earned bragging rights. I'd be so puffed up with hot air you'd have to anchor me.

YOU ARE A LEGEND!
