| Do you need the fat flush?? I think you should do Induction. I am not sure about protein powder on this way of eating. Do you have the 2002 Atkins New Diet Revolution?? If not, read all the stickys and some of the posts on this site. I think that 'fat flush' can be dangerous, and from what I have heard on this site it doesn't work at well at Induction. I am still new at this (3 weeks), but I have lost 14 pounds and I feel fantastic! You will get some outstanding advice from some of the people who really know their stuff! Welcome to ADBB!

| Hi! There are some Induction legal recipes that call for protein powder (can't have sugar in the ingredients) but it isn't really a part of the basic concept of Atkins. We try to eat whole fresh foods when possible. Atkins powder, shakes & bars are what we around here call 'Frankenfoods'. People who do Atkins by the book (2002 edition of Atkins New Diet Revolution) avoid them as they cause a host of problems from weight loss stalls to bloating, diarrhea etc. This also applies to other 'low carb' products. Stevia is acceptable but you will find that the book calls for limited amounts of any sweetner in order to reduce your cravings. The basic concept involves initially staying at or below 20 grams of carbohydrates per day but there is so much more to it than that. Get the book (cheap on http://product.half.ebay.com/Dr-Atki...foQQprZ2184253 ). Read it and then get your pantry prepared. Induction is the first phase which lasts 2 weeks (or longer, your choice). It is the strictest and it really does detox and flush your system while it revs up your weight loss and prepares you for the long haul. Good luck making your decision! This board is wonderfully supportive so stick with us if you decide Atkins is the way to go!

| Hi, welcome to Atkins. My suggestion would be to do an absolutely clean induction which means NO SHAKES, there is an acceptable list you can print out if you want to. Induction is two weeks and once you have done that, it you want to start the shakes, then you could, but they really aren't allowed. BUT and this is a big but, I have been on this board for 3 years and I can't tell you how many folks have stalled on shakes and bars. So if you stop losing it might be the shakes that are doing it. Try it and see what happens. |
