Question Foods that cause cravings - how do you identify?

I've seen a lot of posts from people who say "such-and-such" caused cravings -- everything from peanut butter to celery. What exactly does that mean? Is it cravings for sweets and starches ... or cravings to overeat too much of that item ... or just that it makes you hungry instead of satisfying hunger.

I'm in the berry rung of OWL now and I don't think I've experienced this problem yet. I mean, I crave things I shouldn't have every once in a while, but I don't think they're tied to particular legal foods. But as I try more stuff moving up the rungs I want to know how to recognize it.

if you get any kind of food craving consistantly after you have a food any tood be it legal or not then that food can be the trigger. for me it was celery sticks and anything sweetened with Splenda. It took sereveral months to discover it was celery but the SPlenda was hey i had mock danish wuith splenda icing today and had cravings I had it before without the splenda icing check the SPlenda craving connection and sure enough anything sweetened with splenda consumed and cravings for swwets followed. Celery was more of I want more food craving quickly after the meals. journaling your fods and reactions post meal to your eating will help you identify it quickly.

Thanks, 2big! I was eating celery this morning and remembered seeing it caused cravings for you, which got me to wonderin'. That's a good idea to note any cravings in my food journal -- I just try to ignore anything that passes, but it would be smart to think more preventively.

well if wanting more food and knowing you are not hungry keeps happenening and you are a carboholic you need to figure out fast what it is so you don't over eat your Atkins and gain weight. I was looking at ingredients and hidden carbs and too low fat but it was the legal for us celery that was doing it and it didn't matter if it was with different fats/dips as a snack or in a salad.

not2late has the more food issues with tomatoes and eggplants togeter but not seperately
some Atkineers get the I got to haves with legal nuts too.
