| John, I'm sorry to hear that. It's not easy to be around someone who isn't saying the things we need to hear. Don't lose heart. I bet lots of other people have noticed and are thinking what a catch you are now. Just keep up your obvious hard work and think about how you look to yourself and not how you look to your wife, after all that's what matters. She may not be noticing it so much as she is with you every day ( I find that difficult to believe myself, but I'm trying).

| John it could be that she feels a wee bit threatened by your new transformation. Some spouses harp and harp about the weight, then feel weird about it should their partner actually lose the weight. Like their security blanket has been taken away. The more you continue to lose and feel good about yourself, the more your outward and inward confidance shows. I could be waaaay off base here, but its just a thought, by her telling you that you haven't lost weight, might be her way of trying to get you to cave so she can have her security blanket back. I hope its not that, but I have seen it many times in my life with friends and family. Even saw one hubby try to sabotage his wife by bringing in junk food and eating it in front of her. Nasty. If this is the situation, you could save some fur flying by sitting down your partner and reasurring her that no matter what you weigh, that she will always be the one for you, and that you really need her on your side cheering on your progress. | She notices, but like the ladies before me said she is probably pretty threatened by the new you. Usually you see it more in men when their wives or girlfriends change, but in your case your wife's own self esteem is being challenged. |

| I think both point of views are valid. When my mom lost 100 lbs. I never noticed; not really. The only time I really noticed she was burning was when I saw an old picture of her and it was like I was seeing her in a fat suit. You just... don't notice it. And not many women like the fact that their husbands weigh less than them. Insecurity is a very valid issue. Seriously :P I told my boyfriend we're gunna have a problem if he can start fitting into my jeans XD Jokingly of course, but still :P It is just kind of an insecurity thing. Try complimenting her on the way she looks and such. Just little things

| Oh, you are all so nice. I was going to suggest he say "well, if you move out I can lose 10 stone (or whatever the wife weighs) of dead weight immediately! More if you take your mother with you." But, I guess that won't make for a happy marriage, will it. Sorry you are still having trouble John. No luck in persuading her to try Atkins? My dh is pretty thin, but if he found an amazing way to eat that made him lose weight without being hungry I'd be all over him to tell me how to do it too. Hey! Do you have a picture somewhere here? We can all have a look and we'll tell you how skinny you are! Hang in there.

| She's lost 7lbs in 6 months and puts it on within a day of binging and whinging. She also tried cooking for me the other day so I kept an eye on her, and as usual I caught her trying to sneak sugar in my food. I tried talking to her, complementing her, even tried talking to (((SHUDDER))) her mother. I'm just all out of ideas at the moment. Seems she's all about "me me me". Oh well at least I know how to cook and eat well... Maybe I should declare war by filling the house with her favourite junk food...after all the stuff doesn't appeal to me anymore....no cravings for weeks now...perhaps whats good for the goose truly is good for the gander... Wonder how she'll like it if the house is full of chocolate fudge cake???

| She must be very frustrated if she has only lost 7 pounds and then gained it back in one day. I would be witchy too in that situation. You know how much you have lost and you can be proud of that. Why don't you offer to cook for her? That way you know what is in your food and she can feel that you are supporting her. I can't imagine how horrible it would be to be eating typical "diet" food and be living with someone who is eating fats and creams and meats and losing weight while I was gaining! Maybe she'll even agree to try Atkins (doesn't sound like she has much to lose by trying!). Sabotaging someone who is having this much trouble losing weight is just mean. You don't kick someone when they are down. Maybe I'm just an incurable romantic but you must have married her for a reason. She must have some good points, right? Turn the other cheek for a while and see if you don't get a more positive attitude. Even if she still can't acknowledge your weight loss everyone on this board does and is really proud of you. Whatever weightloss plan she is on I bet she doesn't have this kind of support.
