Default trying this woe

Hi,

I posted a message about two weeks ago, where I asked you guys how to approach my weight loss.
Low carbing is really hard on me , as I have the worst sweet tooth in the world. If I don't eat sugar , I get shaky after just a few hours! I had started Weight watchers , but that leaves me hungry all day long and eventually I end up binging on whatever edible I can find 'round the house. So I really didn't know what to do anymore.

But I really want to shed a few pounds and learn how to controll my eating habits! So I've decided to take your advice , I'll try the Atkins WOE for 2 weeks. If it doesn't help me feel better and lose a little weight , I can always move on and do something else , but then at least I have given it a try.

I want to start tomorrow , do you have any advice how to cope with sugar withdrawel? What are the supplements I really shouldn't be without? I have the books (and read them more than once) , but you guys live in the real world and know how hard it can sometimes be.

THANKS!!

Besides your daily multi vitamin (with NO iron)...
Get some L-Glutamine, helps a lot with the sugar cravings.
I take a bunch of other stuff, but that is me. I have Flaxseed Oil, Fish Oil, Extra B vitamins, Evening Primrose Oil (for PMS symptoms), a combination Calcium/potassium/magnesium (for leg cramps), I know there is more LOL.
Good luck to you!! Stay strong, you can do this!!

The best way to get over your sugar cravings is just to bite the bullet and go for it. After 3-4 days of no sugar, you will be amazed at how quickly your cravings go.

Good luck.

I am so glad you are giving this a go! You will feel great when the 2 weeks is up. I take a CarbSmart multi-vitamin, B complex, 500mg Vitamin C, Flax Seed Oil, Cromium Picolinate, Grape Leaf Extract, and Garlic. I feel pretty great most of the time, I have lots of energy. I really feel for you on the sugar addict thing, I used to eat canday ALL day long!! I never would have believed that I could kick the habit, but I did! The thing that helped me in the beginning was the Mock Danish, or take 2 tablespoons creamcheese, mix with a little cocoa powder and Splenda. Those two things helped me get over the Sugar cravings. I did not eat that every day, only when I couldn't stand it!! The best way to beat the 'sugar beast' is to starve it, but we have to do the best we can. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

For me it is the hardest to get throught the first 3 days. Once I get to the end of day three, I have it made. Yes, I have tried Atkins many times. I lost weight back in 2000 on it and then had a tragedy in the family and stopped. I tried about 20 times to get back into induction. I was really addicted to sugar. This time I knew I made it when it was 8:00pm on day three and I had not cheated. It's been almost a year and I'm so happy that I made the change in my life. I hope you notice all the great benefits of this WOE.

As far as supplements... I take a multivitamin without iron, omega 3 fish oil, calcium, and green tea. I haven't tried taking anything for the sugar cravings. They are controllable now.

Have a happy Atkins day! I can't wait to hear how your two weeks went. Keep us posted.

If you haven't seen a doctor, I suggest you see one before beginning this or any other weight loss diet.

Sugar is a drug and I was hooked just like you. After you break the habbit (and you will) you'll never look back. This WOE works, period. I know I'll never go back.

There are many things you can do to help you through the cravings. Drink lots of water, exercise (to keep a positive mind), write down your feelings and plan of action in a journal, call a friend who is a positive influence on you, write in the ADBB or read the posts from the people who've been there and made it happen, eat chipped ice, take a cold shower, go for a swim, read the DANDR over and over and over or anything else you can think up...but it comes down to YOU.

You have to get in the right frame of mind to really want to lose the weight. I tried 100 times (probably more) to lose weight in my lifetime, but until I accepted the responsibility and committed to changing my way of eating and living, then it didn't work.

Once I understood the Atkins plan and did it wholeheartedly...then I saw fantastic results. We are all here to help you, motivate you and encourage you to succeed. We want that for you as much as you want it for yourself. Give yourself positive influences, don't listen to people who tell you it won't work or you can't do it. YOU CAN DO IT. So many people here have made it work for them. We all had cravings, doubts, fears and had to drop our old habits and form new ones. We did it and so can you!!!! We are always here for you, 24/7!!!
