| I guess my main comment would be what are you doing here since you aren't following Atkins?

| Ketosis just means that fat is spilling into your urine, which might mean your eating a lot of fat. How is your weight loss doing? Are you losing inches? Wine is allowed on the plan after induction and if your losing, keep on, keeping on. Also, also, it will only slow your weight loss, not stall it. Alcohol is burned off first and then the body burns off fat. Another comment, if all your carbs are coming from wine, are you eating your veggies? |

| that's cute... but anyway my point is in the context of the Atkins diet if you're having trouble.... my point is why am I in Ketosis still if wine is supposed to knock you out of Ketosis...let's stick to the topic I CREATED...and enough with the comments |

When your bod breaksdown alcohol, one of the by-products is acetic acid. Acetic acid can give a false positive test with the ketostix, because the acetoacetic acid (the ketone) and acetic acid (the alcohol metabolism by-product) are chemically similar. Alcohol is allowed during the Atkins Diet, but in the On-Going Weight Loss Phase. The mods and old-timers are sticklers for doing a "Clean" Induction because the poundage you lose during that 2 week period indicates how easily/difficult it will be for you to lose weight. So if you maximize your weight loss, you get a better indication of your metabolic resistance to weight loss.

| I was being serious. And I'm sorry if you don't want to hear comments, but if you are replacing nutritious food with alcohol, then there is another forum you could be posting in.

| Oh, sorry. Are you on the alcohol rung of OWL? My apologies then. I just don't want any newbies thinking that drinking during the early stages of the woe is a good thing to do.
