| Elke - first congratulations on deciding to do induction first! Dont get confused by worrying about calories at this stage. Induction will help you get rid of those sweets cravings and get you started on the fatburning if you concentrate on doing it 'by the book' and counting carbs! Dr Atkins never said that calories 'dont count' but he did say 'dont count calories'. One of the benefits of keeping carbs down but eating fats till we are no longer hungry is that we tend to keep our calories fairly low without trying! And as we are fuelled by fats not by carbs we have what Dr Atkins called the #metabolic advantage' in that we can lose weight on a higher calorie input than when on a lowfat diet. Your suggested menus look good, but do make sure you have some legal highfat snacks available too so you will have something to eat if the munchies strike! I like how you are spreading your carbs across the day too!

| Some people count calories because they are used to doing that and they use that method to keep track of the amount of food they eat. Other people don't count calories and use standard serving sizes (and their ability to feel satiety) as their means of controlling food intake. Dr. Atkins hoped that the natural appetite suppression of his diet would help us to re-learn our natural hunger-satiety cues. Just remember what Dr. Atkins wrote in DANDR 2002 Chapter 11 Quote:

| the major thing you can learn from this ..is 1. eat until you are content then stop 2. eat only the foods on the list 3. stop worrying about anything else because the more simple this is for you the more likely you will succeed good luck girl OOOXXX |

| Elke, I am new so anyone can correct me if I am wrong, but I have noticed the calorie thing too on here. But from reading the posts, I have noticed that the calorie people are also people who are either nearing goal and are trying to get those last pounds off or they are people who are biologically destined to have some calorie issues so they count. I am not counting as I am only on Day 3, but I have to admit that by using fitday, I have an idea of my calories. I know all the meat calories and stuff can be scary, especially when we are conditioned to count them, but I am trying to focus on the fact that my food is now pure. I mean, I would think 200 calories of chicken is much better than 200 calories of nachos. Right? Sorry for rambling. Deborah Quote:
