Default Question about foods

Is it okay to consume certains types of sauces, for example mayonnaise and ranch dressing if they have very little sugar? This particular ranch dressing I looked at in the grocery store has 1.2 grams of sugar per serving. I think it's impossible to find sugar free products where i live.

Another question on the same topic. I believe we are allowed to eat eggs liberally according to the induction food list. However, eggs have sugar in them (www.calorieking.com). So does this mean we are allowed to eat sugar as long as they are below the 20g limit or a little bit more if we're past the induction stage?

Some desert recipes have fruits like cranberries or strawberries in them. Don't these fruits have it's own natural sugar?

I AM CONFUSED.

Aaron,

If you can find mayo and ranch dressings without Sugar, that's the way to go. I personally don't sweat that small stuff though. I use Kraft Real Mayo and Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing. I prefer Marie's (which is found in the refrigerated Salad area in the grocery) and it doesn't have added sugar.

Regarding eggs, yes they have carbs, simply count them as one carb per egg. They are less than that, but count them in your totals. But, you can and should have them. They are good for you.

Remember, this is a LOW CARB plan, not a NO CARB plan. Eating 3 or 4 eggs per day and mayo, salad dressing and only 3 cups of vegetables a day, you aren't going to get close to the 20 net carbs on induction.

As far as the eggs having sugar, and the fruits having sugar naturally...Yes they do, but these are NATURAL sugars. What you want to avoid is ADDED sugar/corn syrup/fructose...stuff like that. When you get to the berry rung, you have your fresh berries with their natural fructose...that's okay. What you would NOT want is, say, frozen berries where they ADD sugar to them.

Hope this helps.

Sorry for posting in the wrong section, Richt.

ValidRouge, thank you for all the feedback. It was really helpful. I will try to get at least 15 grams of carbs from now on. I need them, I'm sure.

Hi Candy
Once you ahve been to www.tickerfactory.com or to one of the other ticker sites you need to paste the url they give you into your signature between image tags.

either put [img] and [/img] each side of your url or click on the little picture icon above your signature block and paste your url into it and click OK and the software will add the image tags for you.

Once you have previewed your signature to make sure it is working just click on 'save signature'

hope this helps!
