Default Energy Levels

Good Day All,

I have a very odd question. I have stated before that I am a musician. I perform 10 - 14 times a month. Usually 4 hour shows, and 3 Hour shows.
I've been doing very good so far. Lost over 20 pounds, eating healthy, taking vitamins, drinking 200 plus ounces of water a day. On the days I do not perform, I am out walking (2.5) miles faithfully 6:00 am. So I know I'm doing everything right. Problem is, I'm running out of steam!! My stamina is not what it used to be. Three quarters of way into my evening shows and I'm running down like a clock. I have an hour drive both ways to some of these places I play. I find myself falling asleep at the wheel! Yikes!

The old way was, finish a show, stop by a fast food joint, grab a pick me up unhealthy greasy burger and fries, and drink Diet Coke between every set, all night long. So I had the caffiene going for me. Now I drink strickly water on breaks and on the way home. I brought a salad with me the other night, with some cheese (ounce) and homemad dressing and Tuna fish.

Do any of you experience this, will it pass, is my body trying to get used to it? I am sleeping better, not waking up at night at all anymore. I am trying to get 6 hours at least of sleep or more each night.

I want to succeed and I know I will. Your suggestions would be very very wecome! Thank you for reading my post!

Hi Scooter

Sorry to hear you're hitting an energy wall at jams and performances. I was going to suggest a snack for break times, but it sounds like you've already thought of that. The only other thing I can think of would be to pack something along that packs an energy whollop for you usually (for me, it's anthing meat-like; lotsa protein). Maybe a quick workout before you leave for your performance would give you extra stamina to get through, too.

Let us know how you make out, okay? Best wishes at your next gig.

S.

I had this problem early on but not since my induction flu passed..best suggestion is protein snack.. I eat protein 1 hr before my workouts and it really helps alot.

Hello Scooterjam,

How wonderful that you have lost so much weight since last month! You are doing well with weight loss. I, myself, can relate to the lack of energy you are experiencing. I workout almost everyday and I feel pooped in the evenings. I always hear that you are supposed to feel more energy when you work out, but I never felt it. But I do now....

My suggestion is to take a B-complex vitamin for energy. And since the B vitamins are water soluble, you can't take too much and harm your body. I take a B-50 vitamin each day, and whenever I am feeling drained of energy, I pop another one. This works wonders for elevating your energy levels!

I hope all works well for you.

I see you are on extended induction. Maybe it is time for you to take a step up that ladder to the next level up?
I find that if I am lagging macadamia nuts work wonderfully as a pick me up. They are little crunchy bombs of energy for me. Also easy to carry around.
Good luck. Hope you get your energy levels back again really soon.

Yes - do try the B's! I used to hit a dead zone between 3-3:30 almost every day, even taking vitamins before breakfast. Now there's a B-bumper bottle in my desk at the office for the first signs of the drowsies/droopies. They really do help.
