Default sugar crash strategies

Hey guys. I had a strange thing. What felt like a massive sugar crash.

I tried an atkins breakfast bar. It didn't really help. Still was shakey, dizzy.

Needed something - so I tried a few pieces of high fiber bread. This fixed it.

Not sure why this happened, but I do know this was a problem.

Anyone have any good strateiges for this?

the best thing is not to get there. Look at your foods and see if you can figure out what caused it and then avoid that in the future. DO you know what caused it?

Actually you really don't know if your bar or your bread fixed it since the bar with its slow digestive time continued to be digested and a bit released into your small intestine even as you were having the bread. you would need to do just the bar to the time you felt better and just the bread to see what really happened but you'd need to crash your blood sugar 2 more times so i wouldn't advice doing that.

It's a good point. I was engaged in a lot of physical activity just beforehand. I suppose it could be that. It's happened before thta when I'm running 20gs or less sometimes stress or exercise will cause me to burn through my blood sugar.

It's rare.

Make sure your nutrition intake is up to par with your exercise. And 2big is right.....don't get there. A tsp. of peanut butter is a great in between snacks or meals fix for maintaining blood sugar

honestly the nature of my job is to be unpredictable so if I loose track of time running round like a mad woman......and forget to eat ...I crash ...then I start laughing at everything ..and for an urgent care nurse that can be unseemly ..so
I make a huge salad of all kinds of mixed up vegetables, cheese and nuts ..then set my pocket pc to remind me to stop and eat the damnn thing with a HUGE glass of water ...then move right back to work ......no crash
try it!

salad, cheese and nuts if you are eating them now ..works like a charm!

you can eat this and exercise forever I bet!

Don't exercise on an empty stomach, but also don't eat right beforehand. Also make sure you're well hydrated.

How much time passed from your last meal when you felt this way?

Hi!

I'm delighted I started this thread - becuase I've now seen a whole day outside of ketosis and it was ugly. Alll the old cravings came roaring back!!

I'd say it was 3 hours since my prior meal when the crash happened. This mornign I'd had 1 double espress; scrambled eggs (w/a piece of cheese); and soem water. that's kind of my mornign ritual. I knock caffeine off after that.

today turned into a day of failure after that bad start!!

When I crave sugar, I eat 6 pieces of bacon. I know that sounds a bit like overkill, but I swear it zaps the sugar craving instantly! It is my foolproof technique!

Are you feeling like you need sugar to stay awake and be functional?

Or is it that you are crashing from the caffeine?

Fat fat fat is my guess though! Some good fat'll do ya good!
