Default Question about rate of loss...

Is it true that those with more to lose will loss faster and more in induction than those who have less to lose? I'm asking because I have been doing induction by the book for 5 days and have only lost 3 lbs., and I keep reading about people losing 10-20 pounds or more in the first 2 weeks. Is this normal? I'm sure I am eating and drinking correctly...like I said, by the book. Any input would be helpful

Generally you can figure up to 10% of your total loss in induction. Of course that doesn't work for everyone. But with 28 pounds to go, you have already surpassed that figure in only 5 days! Well done!!

WHICH BOOK? If you are following the 2002 DANDR, then you are on the right track. Any other version and you're probably eating processed LC foods which can derail your weight loss ...

I agree with Barb, you are doing great thusfar .. stay OFF the scale for 2 weeks .. and stay ON the plan ..

Betty,

DANDR is my bible I think I will take you advice, start the abs challenge, keep with the plan and do a recount on my measurements and the scale in 2 weeks. Thanks for the advice! Also, you are living proof that Atkins is a lifetime program. Good luck on your upcoming marathons!

We are all unique and wondrous organisms. Every body will do it differently. You 10+% is great. If you look at it in percentages, you wanted to lose 28 lbs which is 17.8% of your start weight. Now I wanted to lose 54.2% of my start weight! Naturally, I will go faster at the beginning.
You're doing fine, don't stress out over what other bodies are doing, just worry about yours.
