Default Eggbeaters.

Do many of you use eggbeater (or regular eggs)? We have always used eggbeaters but I am just wondering if this will hurt me on induction?
Thanks

I use eggbeaters. They're just fine, but so are real eggs. Eggs have considerably more fat in them and during induction that's a good thing. Eggbeaters have next to no fat in them and are high in protein. If it doesn't throw your ratios off, you're just fine

From a Dukes University (I think) study analysing the induction menus in DANDD a ratio of 65% fat/30% protein/5% carbs was suggested

Great. Thanks.

I (re)looked at my menu and did some changes. I was able to get 20g and get my calories up ( I was unable to get it above 1000)

Now:

My rations are 68% fat, 27% protein, and 5% carbs at 1455 calories using eggbeaters.

My rations are 71% fat, 24% protein, and 4% carbs at 1633 calories using eggs.

Do you think it's best if I use the whole eggs to get my calories up??

THanks

Default Re: Eggbeaters.

I feel fuller and more satisfied if I use real eggs.

Eggbeaters are just like eating only the whites and that isn't filling at all. I've been eating 3 eggs every morning for induction. Now that I am nearing the end, I've noticed that I can back off by an egg and still feel good. So I'm eating 2 eggs at breakfast instead of the 3 I needed in induction.

Hope that helps.

I use Eggbeaters in shakes, or if I am making a low-carb cookie dough treat. But in the rare case I'm whipping up scrambled eggs (I'm really not an egg person), I'll use the real deal.

Um, I'm missing something here. The only eggbeaters I know of are the devices you use to whip eggs into froth with. Somebody please explain!

It looks as if they are egg whites with added nutrients that normally would be in the yolks!
Quote:
Are Egg Beaters as nutritious as whole eggs?
While the traditional whole egg delivers a variety of important nutrients, it also contains 5 grams of fat, 75 calories and a hefty dose of cholesterol — about 210 milligrams per large egg — all of which is found in the egg yolk. In contrast, Egg Beaters is actually more nutritious than traditional whole eggs. By eliminating the yolk, all of the fat and cholesterol and more than half of the calories are cut out. In addition, the product contains greater amounts of important vitamins like A, B-12, D and E, as well as other essential nutrients such as folic acid and riboflavin.
They are coloured yellow to look like real eggs too!

I suppose for people not able to store real eggs they would have a place, maybe if you were on the move and had no proper kitchen, but I think I'll stick to the real unprocessed thing!

Striek me pink! What a dreadful thing to do to a nice egg! And eggs really are an almost perfect food. I'll be sticking to the real thing too, Elizellen!
