| I've heard the same... A friend of mine adds it to everything - even his water! If it really does work that'd be pretty cool...

| My partner is indian and uses a lot of thermogenic spices in his cooking..cayenne,or red chilli powder (which is the hotter of the two) certainly fires my furnace up. Ive experienced many a wooshie after his curries I also found this for your info Thermogenic Spices -- such as ginger, cayenne, mustard and cinnamon -- raise your body temperature and kick your metabolism into high gear. In fact, studies show that some of these seasonings triple the body's ability to burn calories for fuel rather than store them as fat.

| Capsicum its original name is a miracle herb. Do a Google search on it. You'd be surprised at all the uses. Thermogenic being one and a good anti-inflammatory. As you venture through your Atkins journey, I highly encourage you to study the value of herbs and food as medicine. Everything at that point really falls into place.

| just remember all spices have carbs soi when you use them you have to count them. if you have ever broken out in a sweat ating a hot pepper or food thenyou have experienced the thermogesic effect. but remember this is a small increase you you can't run out and eat more food thining you are burning more food.

| Sorry 2big I disagree about counting the spices aside from thermogenics ...they give you endorphins that negate the carbs and they give so much pleasure ..put so much passion and variety to your food that you never have to eat the same meal twice!!! even on induction ...so ... I vote ..enjoy your hot peppers, spices and herbs why limit your life any more than you have to ????? and know that they improve the health bennies of your foods...because they have properties to them ..that can release nutrients in the food you eat..they in themselves have all kinds of things that help keep you healthy....(I have studied herbal medicine for years but do not have the ablility or space here to explain myself in any articulate manner so I encourage you to read yourself about herbs and spices synergy with food)...so NO do not count them unless you absolutely can not stand it ...just leave yourself this guiltless pleasure ... | I have to agree with Heidi. Too many people get hung up on induction and limit their diets to meat, cheese, eggs, mayo and butter. Veggies are limited and so are spices. Then we see stalls and boredom. The minute I started adding in extra veggies and fruit, herbs and spices my body completely changed. I had an apron for a stomach thought I would need a tummy tuck. When I faithfully started adding color to my life, my stomach left and never came back. I've been doing this for 6 years and I can toll around the boards and see people I have seen for my 6 years who are depressed, still fat and still eating the same old foods with their constant cheats. They have not allowed themselves the freedom to experiment so they go off the deep end and gain. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to start anything I just hate seeing people afraid of fruit. Like Heidi stated...the more you know about what each food group actually provides and the antioxidant effect of color......it gives you the true pleasure of enjoying an apple a day. There's a lot of people out there even on maintenance not eating oranges, apples and bananas. Not good and not what Dr. A intended. Inside out not outside in.
