| Sizes now in the US are no where near the same as they were 30 years ago! I think a size zero is probably really closer to what a 5-6 or 7 used to be! They didn't even sell size zero's when I was a teenager!

| I read an article somewhere that said the same thing - clothing now is much larger for the numbers, and I do remember when 7 was small - now it seems that it's in the "large" end.

| I read an article in Cosmo that not all shops stick to the same measurements for sizes. A size 12 in one shop could be a size 14 in another. Barely any 2 shops have the same measurements for say size 12 for example. Alot of the shops that started off in abroad, eg Mango have the smallest sizes as the girls over there are slimmer. In the UK there is no law that requires a size 12 to be a certain waist/hip measurement. Interesting article. It was also interesting to read that article too Carboholic. Esp the part about shops making their measurements bigger but still labelling them size 12 to please the customers. I remember about 5 years ago when I could only get size 18 in New Look, Dorothy Perkins and Etam. Now quite alot of shops are expanding their sizes to accommodate the expanding waistlines of the nation. We are getting bigger as a nation and apparently the average girls size is now 14. At the end of the day I think that you dont have to be stick thin to be sexy. Everyone can feel sexy at any weight and its up to them to find that weight. People like Posh just set a bad example of how girls are supposed to look like. Maybe in 20 years time she might have a bone disease or something from being so thin. Who knows?

| that article was very interesting indeed!! I also stopped buying "girls-magazine" otherwise I would have been brainwashed by now. But surely it's unbelievable to go out shopping and not being able to find your size around.... minding that I'm not anything different from many girls I see around! So you have to go to "special" stores and feel obese! Beside the clothes are not exactly the same! I don't care how thin Victoria is... I don't want to be like that. But it upsets me that brands use her as role-model for the rest of the female population.

| I've had to stop looking at the numbers when I shop at a local used store, because they get the clothes imported from the States or somewhere else. I'd be absolutely depressed or confused if I looked exclusively at the numbers, and not tried to fit into them, regardless of the tags. Besides, who, but me will see the tags and the numbers attached - I don't wear the clothes inside-out, or leave the price tags hanging off the clothing if I buy it at a "regular" store. It's all a mind game, and the vanity sizing has gotten way out of hand.
