| It's me again...the next morning. I just tried the Ketoskix and I am now out of ketosis. It must have just needed some time. I am heading off to have some bacon and eggs...back to atkins-ality!

| I had the same problem. I really went off of the program one night and the next day I did the ketosis strips and I was still in ketosis. For the past 3 days I have not been in ketosis (I have been on induction for all of July) but last night I stole a cheeto from my son's plate - actually 7 and this morning I am in ketosis. Really weird. |

| do you know what? I am impressed you did not punish yourself for eating the pie ...I think people are less likely to get in a negative cycle if you just move on to good eating again...we are all human and this is a learning process ..the day I stopped calling a day that was not the best for my eating "cheating" was the day I knew I could do this for life...when you know the foods you eat to get and stay thin are wonderful foods then you do not feel deprived when you have an off day and pull it back together..but if you batter yourself for an off day then you can easily fall into "well if I blew it I might as well continue to blow it" trap ..does that make sense or am I rambling? |

| That totally makes sense 'cause if you're like me then you eat like, one cheeto and are like, I cheated, so then you go eat a bowl of ice cream and some pop tarts for dinner. Then the next day you're like, I screwed up so bad yesterday, I cheated and it's horrid and now I'm going to punish myself and not give myself the yummy atkins food... I hope this is making sense.

| Lobstah - hows it going? Any cravings after the cheat? I'm glad that you got back on the wagon. I completely agree about the whole 'I've cheated once I might as well keep stuffing my face with all this bad food'. Everytime I'm down and wana cheat, I come on here, read the posts, look at the pics and feel better. This board is amazing!!

| I purposely allow myself "cheats" here and there and never feel a drop of guilt about it. I always do it in the healthiest possible way anway, like going to an Ethiopian restaurant and actually eating the yummy flat bread they give you to eat with (it's a sourdough made with teff flour (22g of carbs, 4 of those fiber in 1/4 cup), water and yeast) or eating the barley that's in the baked kibbeh at a Lebanese restaurant I went to (I like exotic food...can you tell?). Does it slow my weight loss? It might. Do I feel guilty? **** no. I AM going to stay low carb for the rest of my life, and believe me this is far fewer carbs than I ever ate before, but it's those little things that make it doable abd easy to fit into my everyday life. (also interesting post-script note...Ethiopian cuisine includes FLAX JUICE, which I believe they sweeten with honey. I didn't try it yet. But I plan to...) |

| It takes time for your body to metabolize food or any chemical for that matter. I'm sure Heidi can tell you that whenever they treat diabetics in ketoacidosis, the patient can sometimes feel an improvement in how they feel before the tests show any improvement. So checking to see if you are still in ketosis 2 or 4 hours after you've eaten a load of carbs, probably won't reflect what's really going on with your body because it takes time for your body to eliminate those excess ketones. Check what's happened 6 to 8 hours later might be more accurate because your body has already metabolized the food you ate and is already feeling the effects of it.

| Well, the blueberry pie led to more cheating at the wedding. I am over it now and a little disgusted with myself. You are right though...coming back to this forum has me back on track. I will think twice the next time...it is not worth all the work getting back on track!
